    Global Business Services The Global Business Services (GBS) is a recently formed organization established to transform Biogen’s business processes to set a platform to scale global operations, fuel commercial growth and innovation pipeline.  Further, GBS will provide further value by developing and delivering a suite of business solutions and support services that are valued by internal customers.   GBS will deliver services by leveraging a global delivery model, operational transparency and metrics, leveraging global best practices, and a service-oriented process improvement culture.   All solutions will be supported by strong business cases and ultimately monitored for the effectiveness and efficiency against benchmarks and service level agreements.

    THE POSITION

    The Portfolio Manager works with the Director, Portfolio and Program Management by assisting with governance of the project portfolio across all GBS functions/teams. The role will prioritize projects, propose resourcing and staffing suggestions, monitor project status and communicate overall portfolio status/progress to various stakeholders (within GBS and within rest of Biogen). The Portfolio Manager will also work to develop and implement portfolio management and governance processes, templates, forms, as well as train and support various project leads and practitioners. This position requires strong collaboration, communication, leadership, analytical, problem solving, program management, synthesis, and change management skills.

    Position Responsibilities

    •    Manage portfolio intake and governance process, propose prioritization of initiatives to Senior Leadership Team •    Maintain the master list of initiatives by updating descriptions, status etc. and removing outdated ideas •    Track and report on projects status •    Track resource capacity and utilization •    Prepare monthly portfolio status report •    Maintain Portfolio governance calendar •    Facilitate monthly portfolio operations meeting •    Review, enhance and collate project artifacts which includes but not limited to project charter, Business case, closure reports and project story boards •    Create and publish monthly value creation report •    Maintain portfolio management process and the supporting templates and forms •    Update process training material and deliver training on portfolio intake process •    Portfolio governance and monitoring/status reporting •    Communicate with and support project leads as needed  •    Create and publish quarterly Newsletters •    Ensure that relevant Portfolio and Project information is up to date on the GBS portal •    Lead and manage large and small projects (workload permitting)

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for the role will have the following experiences: •    Minimum 7 to 10 yrs relevant experience related to leading projects and /or portfolios •    Proficient in Microsoft Office •    Big plus if proficient in SharePoint Online and Power BI or other data visualization platform •    Life sciences/bio pharma work experience would be a plus •    Ability to lead and manage large and small projects across diverse suite of business process areas and operational topics •    Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization •    Strong problem solving, analytical, verbal and written communication skills •    Ability to handle conflict situations effectively •    Proven ability to create solid project plans and to manage full lifecycle of project execution with rigor and discipline around deliverable creation and deliverable quality •    Self-motivated and capable of operating independently with limited oversight.  Strong sense of personal accountability for work tasks.  •    Comfortable acting in a role as individual contributor and influencer  •    Comfort dealing with ambiguity and a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment

    Education: 

    A Bachelor’s degree in Business (or Management), Operations or related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required
