    Job Description

    This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2022. Resume review begins in January 2022.

    Work within one of several departments in Biogen’s Product and Technology Development (PTD) organization engaged in laboratory activities supporting the development and characterization of therapeutic products, manufacturing processes or new technologies.  

    POSITION DESCRIPTION 

    The intern position provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the manufacturing process R&D activities by working closely with the Chemical Process Development group. The intern will assess Biogen small molecule manufacturing processes against a green chemistry assessment tool and research solutions to green chemistry challenges.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Completion of basic coursework in organic/synthetic chemistry with completion of advanced coursework in this area and organometallics preferred.
    • Experience with SciFinder, Reaxsys, and Synthia database searching
    • Ability to review scientific literature with focus on troubleshooting synthetic/organic chemistry problems
    • Understanding and experience with basic laboratory procedures for organic/synthetic chemistry and laboratory safety protocols
    • Experience in synthetic/organometallic chemistry research outside of the classroom
    • Interest in green chemistry/sustainability

      To participate in the Biogen Internship or Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited program and have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies by scheduled start date

     EDUCATION 

    Bachelor’s student in organic (synthetic) chemistry.
