    Job Description

Biogen is seeking a highly motivated, results driven Senior Associate Scientist to join the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department at our Kendall Square site in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In this role, the candidate will add scientific expertise to the discovery and non-clinical development of small molecule therapeutics by carrying out critical path in vitro ADME assays. He/she will be primarily responsible for conducting, optimizing, and troubleshooting ADME screening assays, in particular transwell permeability (MDR1/MDCK and BCRP), to evaluate new chemical entities across the discovery project portfolio. He/she will directly impact the direction of active therapeutic projects and contribute to building in silico predictive models to improve our compound design.

The core responsibilities of this position are to:

    • Maintain cell cultures for mammalian cell-based assays
    • Conduct high throughput ADME screening assays using Tecan and Hamilton automated liquid handlers and state-of-the-art HT LC/MS analytical systems
    • Conduct, analyze, interpret, and document (in electronic notebook) ADME studies and communicate ADME screening study results to internal stakeholders

In addition to the core responsibilities, the role may allow additional opportunities such as CRO interactions, contribution to scientific reports, evaluation of emerging in vitro and in silico tools, contribution to the implementation of new assays/techniques, authorship of scientific papers and presentations at scientific meetings where appropriate. You will join a fast paced, collaborative, and strong scientific community at Biogen deeply committed to scientific excellence in developing life-changing therapies for unmet medical needs.
