Job Description
Biogen is seeking a highly motivated, results driven Senior Associate Scientist to join the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department at our Kendall Square site in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In this role, the candidate will add scientific expertise to the discovery and non-clinical development of small molecule therapeutics by carrying out critical path in vitro ADME assays. He/she will be primarily responsible for conducting, optimizing, and troubleshooting ADME screening assays, in particular transwell permeability (MDR1/MDCK and BCRP), to evaluate new chemical entities across the discovery project portfolio. He/she will directly impact the direction of active therapeutic projects and contribute to building in silico predictive models to improve our compound design.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2-6 years of scientific experience in ADME
Accomplished in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience in cell culture handling
Experience with mass-spectrometry based analysis (high throughput LC/MS)
Effective oral and written communication skills are essential
Utilizing applications to upload data to LIMS systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Experience with transwell permeability assays
Experience with TECAN and Hamilton automation
Previous skills working with High Throughput front-ends such as the RapidFire, ADDA, or multiplexing
Familiarity with programming in Excel/VB or Pipeline Pilot
Critical and proactive thinking and experience in drug discovery and/or development; expertise with implementing, optimizing and troubleshooting in vitro transporter assays; and demonstrated ability to communicate with team members across broad disciplines
