    Job Description

    The R&D Decision Analytics Portfolio Manager position is responsible for driving process and technical improvements across the R&D portfolio ecosystem.  This role sits at the crossroads of technical solutions and R&D business processes. This role requires in-depth expertise into R&D industry best practices, technical platforms, and change management. They will provide direction to the team, provide platform and industry expertise, and both drive, and  directly contribute to the platform roadmap and implementation strategy for R&D. In partnership with functions, Finance, and IT, this role will provide processes, tools, and support that enables R&D to put the right resources against the right projects at the right time. They will be accountable for ensuring the business process to collect, manage, and report on portfolio & resource data is predictable, effective, and high quality; and that it is appropriately technology enabled. They will also ensure portfolio reporting and resource analytics meet the decision support needs of the most senior stakeholders in the R&D.  This role requires an extensive in-depth understanding of the technical solutions in the industry, as well as extensive expertise in the R&D Drug Development business process.

    1.  Bring forth industry and system expertise, to identify both business process improvements and system improvements, and drive continuous improvement (inclusive of managing stakeholders, and balancing trade-offs) efforts at the cross-roads of technical realities and business process and change management

    2.  Drive system performance analysis (de-customization) and lead the transition from analysis to implementation of both process changes as well as system changes.  Lead the efforts to completion, inclusive of managing stakeholders, schedule, and change management.

    3.  Partners with the R&D PMO, Governance, Business Operations, Finance, IT and  R&D functions, to drive business process improvements that  improve data accuracy, and increase both a holistic portfolio view of the data, and utility of the data to inform RDLT-level decision-making.

    1. Assess and recommend future-state Portfolio Modeling capability.  Analyze and integrate the aspects of business process, change management and technical realities.  Develop the project plan, schedule, and stakeholder engagement plans.  Ensure that portfolio reporting, resource analytics, and decision support services meet the needs of functional leadership teams, R&D governance bodies and portfolio leaders.

    2. May manage a team of direct reports in the future.

  • Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Life Sciences,  Biology/Biotech

     

    6-8 years in a project management, portfolio management, or operations role

    ·  Direct knowledge of and experience with Planisware project management and resource management functionality.

    ·  Background in directing the configuration of Planisware to meet business needs, including the development of schedule templates, algorithms for resource forecasting, multi-level planning architectures, and scenario planning functionality.

    ·  Experience rolling out Planisware project management and resource management functionality to business functions in pharmaceutical R&D

    ·  Familiarity with Planisware as a vendor, particularly with regard to its support practices and policies.

    ·  Past direct involvement with upgrading, and/or modifying a Planisware system, including user acceptance testing.

    ·  Competence in developing a strategic roadmap for the development and implementation of incremental Planisware functionality to meet evolving R&D business needs.

    ·  Competence in portfolio modeling best practices, and technical capabilities in  the biotech industry
