Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated and exceptional postdoctoral researcher to join our Small molecule protein science group. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced and innovative environment actively pursuing unmet medical needs in the neuroscience space. The primary focus of this role is to establish new purification, structural and biophysical methods pertaining to drug discovery of GPCRs. This role will offer a balanced training experience in both laboratory based and computational approaches to study GPCRs and is expected to result in high-impact publications. We are looking for a creative and innovative early career scientist with a passion for learning new areas of biology, innovative problem solving while combining a solid foundation of quantitative and computational skills with laboratory-based discovery. The candidate will be embedded in a scientifically challenging environment with appropriate state-of-the art facilities covering multi-host protein expression, purification, X-ray crystallography, cryoEM, as well as access to a multitude of biophysical and biochemical methods and a computational modeling environment. The candidate will also play an active part of a thriving postdoctoral community at Biogen and will have the ability to interact with scientists from cross-functional scientific disciplines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possess working knowledge of construct design, molecular biology and tissue culture techniques.
Execute small- and large-scale expression and purification of proteins from insect or mammalian expression hosts.
Experience using chromatography systems and generating protocols for multi-step protein purifications independently.
Familiarity with structural biology methods including X-ray crystallography and cryoEM
Experience in molecular modeling with a computational suite like MolSoft/Schrödinger
Research experience in applying machine learning to biology/chemistry
Analysis and presentation of data suitable at cross-functional teams, within the postdoctoral community and at external seminars and meetings.
