    Job Description

    This is for a 12-week internship position from June – August 2021.

    Here in Analytical Development – Antisense Oligonucleotide (AD-ASO) team, we support the development of oligonucleotide drug substance and drug product by developing innovative analytical technologies and establishing control strategies. We are seeking a highly creative and self-motivated candidate to join us as Co-op student in 2021. This role will help explore a new formulation for ASO reference standard material to improve the in-use and long-term stability. This role will also participate in the development of analytical methods for mechanistic study on oligonucleotide stability. This position requires adequate knowledge in analytical techniques such as LC and LC/MS.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITY

    • Design, execute and document experiments; analyze and interpret data/results; write technical reports; establish SOPs, etc.
    • Develop formulations to improve the in-use stability and long-term stability for oligonucleotide reference standard material.
    • Mechanistic study of oligonucleotide stability by developing various mass spectrometry-based methods.
    • Attend relevant meetings and seminars to learn the development of therapeutic oligonucleotide.

    Qualifications

    To participate in the Biogen Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

    Additional qualifications:

    • Laboratory experience is required, and knowledge of oligonucleotide chemistry and characterization is highly desired
    • Hands-on experience in chemical analysis by mass spectrometry and/or LC-MS
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    EDUCATION

    Students pursuing MS or PhD in analytical chemistry are preferred. Candidates in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science are also considered.
