These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind. -Intern Project Description Development Science Business Operations Summer Intern will work on a couple of projects over the 3-month internship. Projects will be matched with the candidates skills and interests. Projects may include (1) the assessment or our Fair Market Value Process and Mythology for Clinical Investigator budgets and payments (2) Program, Study and Portfolio Financial Scenario Planning for external expenses, (3) Financial Executive and Program Reporting in the Dev Sci Analytics platform (4) Vendor oversight plans, assessment and outsourcing strategies. Example details include: -Gather industry wide regulatory requirements for FMV in clinical trials -Compared to Rare Disease Biopharma -Understand the compliance and legal requirements of FMV -Organize and Understand our Historical data for payments to Investigators -Propose a Method to determine and assess FMV for Clinical Payments Program, Study and Portfolio Financial Scenario Planning for external Clinical cost: -Understand and evaluate our current historical data pool -Explore best drivers and cost assumptions associated with predictive analytics for costing of clinical trials -Develop reporting and algorithms that best fit a financial modeling tool for clinical trials using clinical and operational data Financial Executive and Program Reporting in the Dev Sci Analytics platform: -Utilize our current data and reporting tool to gather and propose executive reporting for the study management of our clinical trials Clinical Vendor Contract Activity Enhancement Analyses: -Track/analyze contracting activity across all DevSci Clinical Vendors -Identify contracting trends and risks and communicate to internal key stakeholders -Analyze trends across vendors/services, present impact, and identify potential contracting enhancements Qualification and Requirements: -2 years of relevant experience working in the pharmaceutical industry -1 years of relevant technical experience working with site, study or project financial forecasts Education -BA/BS in finance/accounting, life sciences or related degree is preferred -MBA student, ideally MBA/MPH type program or demonstrated interest/focus in Business side of healthcare -Student must be returning to school in Fall of 2018 Skills the Intern will gain: This internship experience will provide valuable perspective into the Business side of Clinical Trials. The intern will develop skills such as vendor management, fair market value analysis, executive clinical reporting and forecasting/scenario planning of trials.
