Roles and Responsibilities: * Participate in all phases of new product development, especially Concept Development, Design Validation, and Process/Production Validation * Design prototype parts using 3D CAD (Solidworks & Autodesk Inventor) * Create, organize, and update CAD part drawings and manufacturing documentation for boats built by New York Mills Operations. Gather as-built information to ensure accuracy. * Coordinate efforts as necessary between Product Development and Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers * Work with other Product Development and Engineering personnel to establish, update, and manage Bills of Material * Be a contributor on problem solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives * Respond to requests from other departments as necessary and appropriate * Ability to design, develop and understand electrical routing and schematics * Carry out cross-functional assignments and projects when needed * Maintain a working knowledge of the systems utilized to carry out the tasks for this position including OBMS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications * Build or rework prototypes as design changes are made * Record and analyze data. Required and Preferred Qualifications: * Pursuing Bachelors in Engineering Field * 3D CAD experience preferred: Solidworks * 3D CAD experience: AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred * Previous experience in product development and/or engineering and manufacturing experience preferred. * Working knowledge of appropriate engineering principles. * Working knowledge of boat manufacturing processes and techniques would be beneficial * Boating experience would be beneficial * Must be a self-starter capable of working both independently, as well as part of a team * Strong organizational skills, good communication skills and flexible interpersonal skills are required * Must be willing to work more than 40 hours per week periodically to complete the job. Work schedule is M F working 7:00am 4:00pm. * Must have solid analytical skills and be a good problem solver * Able to commit to the entire term of the co-op (8 months) * The Company will not be offering visa sponsorship for this position. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see, sit, and use arms, hands and fingers to key and maneuver a mouse on a PC system. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, balance, and use arms and hands to reach, pull, push, clasp and move a variety of materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The noise level in the office work environment is low to moderate. The employee will frequently be exposed to a heavy manufacturing work environment that includes high noise level and exposure to chemical vapors, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, vibration and electricity. Eye and ear protection, as well as steel toed shoes, are required at all times in the manufacturing environment. Hard hats may be required in certain areas of the work environment. Particle masks, gloves, wrist braces, aprons, back support, ear protection, etc., are available for use.
