QUALITY DEPARTMENT JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:                          Quality Engineer

REPORTS TO:                  Quality Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:         We prefer an individual with a good understanding of statistics, problem solving, manufacturing processes, and computers, 4-year degree or related experience, and good written/verbal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure customer satisfaction through quick follow up to problems/ customer concerns, strong root cause analysis skills, and complete feedback using excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Assist in IATF 16949 Quality Management System adherence and maintenance and assure quality documentation on plant floor is conforming and meets process requirements.
• Implement Preventive & Corrective Action and Problem-Solving Tools and Techniques.
• Maintain the Supplier Management process through critically thinking, evaluating & qualifying suppliers, being able to compile and analyze supplier key performance indicators and metrics, identifying source of negative impact on parts and processes to implement methods and strategies to improve supplier quality performance
• Coordinate process walks / special build events and follow up to ensure that standard work instructions, control plans & process FMEAs address all customer build concerns.
• Assist in proficiently applying AIAG Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA) for internal process as well as with supply-base.
• Continuously review process to look for process improvement activities and help implement using Continuous Improvement Techniques (lean concepts and tools, 5S, value-stream mapping, brainstorming, benchmarking, etc.).
• Coordinate, review and status PPAPs.
• Oversee and monitor Quality Gate and related activities.Apply computer skills to assist with the maintenance, development and analyzation of quality documents and quality data and review supporting quality documentation to ensure it is filled out completely and correctly.
• Maintain electronic Layered Process Audit program (schedule audits, track completion, track & follow up on nonconformances, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.
