Engineering Internship Program Details: Caterpillar's Corporate Engineering Intern program is seeking students currently enrolled in a four-year university, to work side by side with engineering professionals to learn and apply themselves on project work within their teams. Interns are empowered with assignments that provide them with experience and significant opportunities for learning. In addition to this work, Interns are able to network with leaders throughout the company to learn about areas of Caterpillar outside of their assigned team. Students have the opportunity to deepen their business skills in their assignment through team and/or business partner interactions, develop and conduct presentations, and measuring their success through the performance and evaluation process. Caterpillars Corporate Intern Program has internship positions in the following areas: Design Job Role: If your interests lies in assisting teams that are focused on designing and developing complex products and component concepts to release to production in a manner to ensure performance, durability, reliability, quality and serviceability globally, Caterpillar has a number of opportunities to challenge interns. Design intern engineers will work to improve the very basis of Caterpillar's machinery. Test Job Role: If you would prefer to provide support in any number of functional areas which impact design, development, research, test or enhancement of Caterpillar products, processes, systems and methods. Test intern engineers work to keep Caterpillar innovative. Simulation Job Role: Do you enjoy developing and using computational modeling to gain insight into the performance of design of components, systems, technologies, products or related processes? Simulation engineers perform conventional to moderately complex engineering assignments while building a working knowledge of Caterpillar and its products technologies, processes, services and systems. Controls Job Role: If you are passionate about coordinating design, development, and testing of controls systems and designing and developing software for controls systems including overall architectural design of software structure and functionality, requirements development, coordination of verification and validation software, a Caterpillar controls intern position would be ideal for you. Research Job Role: Do you prefer to serve as a technical individual contributor on projects and assignments that are complex in nature? If so, you could support and enhance Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability. The Research function works in conjunction with business partners to lead the development and deployment of technology into products and services to deliver customer value. Summer 2019: May 2019 August 2019 This is a 40 hour per week assignment, lasting 12 weeks. Internship Program Qualifications: * Must be enrolled full time at a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following degree programs: Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology * Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution * Expected graduation date by August 2019 and beyond * If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at 4-year university * Must be able to relocate to Peoria, IL area or indicated work location for duration of internship, and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.
