    Job Description

    PURPOSE AND SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    Provide Environmental expertise and program ownership to ensure our Engineered Materials US Compounding facilities are in compliance with Environmental regulations and standards per governmental agencies and corporate guidelines.

    This position will be located in Florence, KY reporting to the Florence, KY EHS Manager and will provide Environmental support to Florence (KY), Winona (MN) and Evansville (IN) compounding facilities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage strategic environmental permits and compliance assurance programs with technical/regulatory issues in accordance with applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations for the Florence, KY facility. 
    • Coordinate permit applications, amendments and renewals as needed to ensure that permits are up-to-date, permit applications contain accurate information, and permit conditions are met by the plant.
    • Maintain up-to-date compliance assurance programs (e.g., environmental operating limits, lists of allowable emissions, production rates, and other conditions/variables that are required by permit to ensure compliance).
    • Ensure that personnel understand required tasks and other elements needed to ensure compliance.
    • Develops programs including training and technical guidance to identify and remove or mitigate potential hazards from the facilities, operations and work areas.
    • Develop, complete, and submit as required, compliance and emissions reports in accordance with air permit requirements and state and federal regulations prior to the regulatory deadlines.
    • Maintain compliance assurance program databases within assigned area, interpret regulations, and identify sound compliance solutions.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with site leaders, operations, process engineering, project engineering staff and other regional safety professionals.
    • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, and compliance to company EHS policies.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS (REQUIRED):

    • Ability to travel up to 20%
    • Bachelor Science in environmental engineering, science or technical engineering degree
    • Minimum 5 years of experience managing environmental compliance in a manufacturing environment
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with managers, supervisors, employees, regulatory agencies and peers on all aspects of environmental program development, implementation and maintenance while maintaining credibility with all customers and stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver group presentations and training courses
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, tact, diplomacy, independence
    • Exceptional priority and time management skills – well organized, ability to effectively prioritize/plan and manage multiple events simultaneously
    • Hands-on, organized self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in establishing priorities, and achieving goals and objectives
    • Good computer skills, including all MS Office software, esp. spreadsheet applications and word processing
    • Strong Problem Solving and Decision Making skills
    • Previous experience with ISO 14001, RCMS (Responsible Care Management System)

    QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

    • Previous relevant experience in Plastics Compounding or similar industry
