We are looking for talented engineers to join us for a professionally rewarding 12-week summer internship. Our goal is to provide a breadth of exposure to the technical aspects of Controls Systems engineering. This is an opportunity to work alongside career professionals on real world applications, while also interacting with a variety of people networks to help you maximize an exciting and purposeful learning and developmental experience.
Who we are:
The Control Systems is an engineering function within the Rolls-Royce Aerospace business. The function develops, simulates, and manufactures components used to control engines on a large portfolio of civil and military aircraft, including, but not limited to B-52, V280, T56AHE, AE1107, AE3007, CTS800 as well as several our other industries partners.
Within Controls Systems, we are divided into the following sub-departments: Software, Systems, Simulation, Electronics, Mechanical, Supplier Engineered Equipment, and Supporting existing fleet. Each sub-department works closely together in the design, testing, incident investigation, and supply chain management to ensure our customer’s needs are met.
What you’ll do:
Engineering interns within Controls systems may work on a wide variety of projects to support our customers in areas including systems integration, software activities, mechanical design, electronic design, systems testing, hardware testing, and supporting aircraft currently being flown around the world. Controls interns will work with agility and a strong desire for continuous improvement of both our products and their own knowledge.
As a Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team that works on electronic engine control and monitoring in the area of electronics, systems, software, and/or mechanical the direction of a senior engineer.

Ideal candidates will have strong demonstrations of interpersonal skills, curiosity, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Candidates will be able to:
Demonstrate how to identify a problem
Demonstrate how to scope a task
Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
Demonstrate written and oral communication to a variety of audiences (e.g., team members, technical experts, and management)
Demonstration of presentation skills both orally as well as visual management
Ability to travel to worksites to perform responsibilities
The internship role will be based in Indianapolis, IN and will have some occasions for needed travel to the nearby facility in West Lafayette, IN.

Bachelor’s Required
Minimum: GPA: 3.0
