    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    We are looking for a Controls Intern who will assist with maintaining excellence in developing, executing, and controlling assigned projects to achieve plant goals.

    The Controls Intern role provides technical support for the safe and reliable operation of the manufacturing plant. Their primary focus will be on electrical projects dealing with controls, data acquisition, and other related issues. Responsibilities include the troubleshooting of control, instrument, and electrical problems adversely affecting the manufacturing process. The selected candidate will have a working knowledge of the design, installation, and upkeep of PLC-based controls in an industrial continuous process environment.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Support the design and installation of electrical/electronic equipment.

    • Under the guidance of the plant’s Controls leadership, perform design calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications for electrical and electronic PLC-based systems

    • Periodically investigate and make an analysis of electrical or electronic-based problems associated with the production operations, and assist with taking the appropriate action to correct these problems

    • Contribute to capital projects initiated by on-site engineering resources or the corporate Controls Team

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Actively pursuing a BS in an Engineering field (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical) coupled with an interest in Industrial Automation as demonstrated by the completion of Industrial Automation coursework.

    • Familiarity with:

    • Methods of tuning PID controllers

    • Types of advanced control systems

    • How to work with large amounts of data

    • How neural networks work

    • How to read P&IDs and circuit diagrams

    • How to size valves.

    • Effective communication skills.

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without current or future requirements for sponsorship of an employment-based visa status.
