    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Under general supervision, assists physician and staff members in providing optimal ambulatory health care to patients, stocks and maintains exam and team rooms; assists with clinical and clerical duties. Work involves direct patient contact and is performed in accordance with prescribed methods, techniques, and procedures.

     

    LOCATION: 2400 BELVIDERE RD, WAUKEGAN, IL

    HOURS: (37.5 HOURS PER WEEK.) ONE EVENING PER WEEK DAY TO BE DETERMINED. OCCASIONAL SATURDAYS AS NEEDED. EXACT DAY HOURS TO BE DETERMINED AS PROVIDER’S HOURS ARE ESTABLISHED.

    • MONDAY - FRIDAY ( 8:00AM-4:00PM)

     FLSA STATUS: HOURLY

     

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Checks patients’ medical records for pertinent data
    • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms; prepares for the provider by obtaining initial information and vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, height, weights, BMI and head circumference as specified by program).
    • Documents chief complaints of patients and notifies the nurse/provider of unusual symptoms or complaints.
    • Assists in telephone follow-up with the patient as directed by the program.
    • Under the direction of the provider and/or nurse, assists with basic patient health education.
    • Inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition.
    • Maintains ordered supplies and keeps area stocked. Checks for medical supplies that are outdated.
    • Performs tasks including filing, chart documentation and telephone follow-up as assigned.
    • Performs peak flow; spirometry; EKG; application of Non-Stress Test (NST) belts; point of care testing and phlebotomy services as directed.
    • Administer medication within their scope of practice.

     

    _EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND CERTIFICATION: _

    • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
    • One-year experience is required.
    • Medical assistant certification or registration required. 
    • Ability to work on weekends, holidays and overtime if necessary
    • Ability to maintain and keep records.

    PLEASE NOTE: _CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT, WHO HAS PASSED THE EXAM AND BEEN AWARDED THE CMA, RMA, NCMA, NHA, CCMA CERTIFICATES. _ Must successfully complete LCHDCHC competencies within 6 months of hire.  Candidates who have completed a 160 hour externship with the LCHD/CHC will have the one year experience requirement waived.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor degree in similar work role with 5-7 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
    • Knowledge of document control procedures.
    • Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems.
    • Maintain knowledge of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator), Microsoft Office software applications or other technical tools for completing assignments and understanding production team utilization.
    • In-depth knowledge of six sigma methodology preferred.
    • Able to mentor junior level team members in the use of tools and/or systems in the position.
    • Requires excellent written, verbal, listening and other communication skills (reports, training decks, etc.), including the following:
      • Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience tar
      • Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer.
      • Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed.
    • Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, coaching and organization skills.
