    Job Summary

    The Digital Manufacturing intern will participate in the training and documentation of Industry 4.0 solutions particularly the MES/SCADA platform Ignition. This is a central role as part of the Certainteed Digital Manufacturing IT team reporting to the Digital Manufacturing I4.0 Program Manager. Tasks and work assigned will encompass multiple plants in different businesses.

    The Digital Manufacturing intern will develop highly informative training videos on how to use Ignition from both the perspective of new developers as well as end users in production facilities. From the development side these videos and documentation must guide developers on how to ‘on board’ new factories to the Ignition platform - from setting up SQL databases, area/location/equipment hierarchy, tag structure, QDMS etc.

    From the end-user perspective documentation must be created on how to navigate between different screens, start and end production orders, switch between different line states and select downtime reasons. In addition, the incumbent will create troubleshooting videos for the plants as well such as checking PLC connections, SAP outages etc. before submitting tickets.

    Essential Functions

    • Understand the full functionality and extent of Ignition/Sepasoft MES platform
    • Develop documentation (visual and written) that guide technical developers on how to setup the Ignition platform in new plants
    • Develop training documentation (visual and written) for operators and engineers in plants on how to use the Ignition platform
    • Develop training documentation for the plants on how to troubleshoot issues before submitting tickets
    • Create database schema for all the SQL server tables used in Ignition and how they are linked together
    • Collaborate with Digital Manufacturing I4.0 Program Manager to ensure projects are aligned and appropriately prepared to deliver on company goals

    Required Qualifications

    • Applicant must be pursuing a 4-year engineering degree or 2-year graduate degree in the field of Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical or Software engineering
    • Experience with creating training documentation (both written and visual)
    • Experience with creating business process flow diagrams
    • Basic understanding of Industry 4.0, MES, Iot
    • Basic understanding of manufacturing principles
    • Basic understanding of SQL, Python
    • Basic understanding of Industrial IT and network infrastructure
    • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Team oriented
    • Results focused
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Flexible, but organized

    • Create information process flows that document how data flows to and from SAP and Ignition
    • Organize all training documentation and job-related tasks in one place
    • Support the Digital Manufacturing Program Manager with performing proof of concept and pilot projects related to Industry 4.0 as well as identifying new opportunities
