The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a Training and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) Coordinator at the Freeport, Texas location. The purpose of this job is to partner with Business, Function, or Plant Learning Leadership to promote and coordinate a proactive and effective plant/department training program to meet business, plant, function, and individual goals in support of a highly reliable and sustainable workforce. The department/plant Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) Coordinator will lead the successful implementation and utilization of the Operating Discipline Management System within their area. The person selected should have the following general skills and knowledge: Intent/Value Provides a plant/department resource to assist resource leaders, teams and individuals in determining the appropriate training to meet their needs and goals. Works with Training Networks (local, global, business, site function) to assign and coordinate the delivery of training to meet business, function, plant, and individual goals. (This person may fill the role of instructor or course developer providing they are a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the subject area). The Training Coordination role is a critical learning implementation role for M&E to enable an effective knowledge transfer for new employees and ensure long term maintenance and a continual increase of knowledge for current employees. This role ensures that the ODMS is effectively implemented, utilized and maintained and value creation is maximized within a department or plant. Key Requirements: Training Coordination Develop, implement, coordinate, and maintain the plant training program to ensure compliance is achieved for all training policies and requirements. (i.e. retraining frequencies, Department Training Matrix, needs analysis, etc). Ensures plant training goals are effective and aligned with plant, site, and business goals. Works with employees to develop and maintain employee specific training schedules/plans. Instructional methodology resource for the development or changes to the learning resources required in the unit. Ensures appropriate subject matter experts review and approve plant-specific training/learning resources and ensures that all learning resources are up-to- date and available. Subject matter resource for training systems and coach employees on how to access learning resources. Coordinates resources for delivery of plant training (i.e. qualified instructors, materials and/or facilities). Conducts training where appropriate (where training coordinator is also subject matter expert or qualified instructor). Ensures all required employee training records are up-to-date and maintained. Communicates overdue training items to employees, empowered teams and as required, leadership. Interacts with outside plant training contacts and functions (i.e. Site Learning Network, etc.). Manages the training audit / assessment programs, conducts training surveys, and communicates results to employees. Works with Management of Change (MOC) owners to ensure that training requirements for individual MOCs (management of change) are achieved. Ensures management involvement and awareness of training program effectiveness. Owns the New Employee Checklist, and is responsible for setting up all new employees with the checklist & responsible for reviewing completed checklist for 100% completion. ODMS Coordination General knowledge of their organizations' vision, goals and strategy related to Operations, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality Understands ODMS processes and tools. Understands Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) work processes. Leads overall ODMS "implement" and "maintain" efforts for the department / plant. Identifies and prioritizes opportunities at the plant / department level. Works with Business/Function/Site Implementation Leadership to identify 0rganization level opportunities. Assists in the identification and training of department / plant Element Focal Points. Creates and modifies annual Self-Assessment Plan and monitors progress. Coordinates ongoing department/plant efforts to maintain the ODMS system, reduce unplanned events and maximize value from ODMS use. Facilitates annual unit Management System Review and manages follow-up. Ensures department/plant documentation is kept up to date. Required Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a chemical or petrochemical facility is required. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) experience is required. Good team work skills are required. Ability to facilitate meetings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site. Strong reading comprehension and listening skills. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) or in training is highly preferred. Microsoft Access is preferred. SAP experience is also preferred. Knowledge of the Diamond Learning System is desirable. Understanding or experience in instructional system design is also desirable. Education: A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. An Associate degree or higher is preferred.
