    Site Logistics Technicians The Dow Chemical Company Plastics Site Logistics has a job opening for a Site Logistics Technician at the Plaquemine, LA site. Plastics Site Logistics encompasses all solids handling for the three Polyethylene manufacturing plants on site, including bagging and boxing operations, Railcar Loading, and Sea Bulk Container Shipments. We are looking for top caliber, technically capable Technicians who embrace change and adapt to their environment, make decisions quickly, possess self-confidence and leadership skills, and are life-long learners. Plastics Site Logistics is a 24/7 operation, employing approximately 30 Dow personnel and an additional 150 contract operators. Responsibilities: Ensures logistics activities and performance are aligned with department and business goals. Follows operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties. Uses troubleshooting skills to resolve process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems. Performs minor maintenance repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance utilizing appropriate procedures, processes and disciplines. Uses knowledge and skills to make improvements in warehouse performance and Operating Discipline. As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations. Identifies equipment requiring maintenance. Clears and isolates equipment as required and issues Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work. Acts as Dow focal point for all contract operations in the respective logistics area, including: Prioritizing daily tasks, providing direction on facility operation, and escalating issues to contract supervision. Works with the production plants to ensure seamless integration between manufacturing and logistics. Investigate and resolve quality issues. Covers call outs on nights and weekends to ensure continuous operation of assets. Acts as back-up coverage for other Plastics Logistics Assets. Performs all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship. Required Qualifications: At least two years experience in a chemical, industrial, manufacturing or similar plant environment. Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Must be able to work a rotating shift and overtime as required (including weekends & holidays). Demonstrated ability to learn and successfully operate various mechanical machines. Strong work ethic; independently motivated to produce results. High level of initiative. Ability to read, write and comprehend documents in English. Ability to work in an empowered team environment, including the ability to effectively communicate, share information, resolve issues, give and receive both positive and critical feedback in a respectful and professional manner. Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain forklift certification upon being hired. Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the smoke free and drug-free workplace policy. Must be punctual and reliable. Must be able to wear all Personal Protective Equipment, as required, including but not limited to full face respirator or SCBA; and FRC clothing while performing outside duties. Ability to operates Windows based PC, including Microsoft Suite of products Must meet physical requirements of the job which include walking up and down stairs, using ladders, overhead work, and lifting up to 50 lbs. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: Experience isolating equipment and writing safe work permits is desired. **** Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
