    PRE-MAKE READY TECHNICIAN - 3RD SHIFT

    OUR PRE-MAKE READY TECHNICIANS WORK WITHIN OUR DIE CUTTING DEPARTMENT AND ARE PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON PREPARING TOOLING FOR OUR DIE CUTTING OPERATORS BASED UPON THE VARIOUS FOLDING CARTON STRUCTURES FOR OUR CUSTOMERS.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING.

    • Level 1

      • Checks job schedule
      • Reads job jacket to determine blanking, stripping, die cutting requirements
      • Set up all necessary tooling required for each job (bottom pins, bottom blankers in BSI frames, universal blankers, etc.)
      • Apply cito to dies that require cito
      • Make sure all components of each job are at the machine and ready to run
      • Inventory spot-sheets (deliver to machines and return to the spot-sheet drawers)
      • Keep pre-MR department clean and organized (tools, spare parts, spare rule, etc.)
      • Follows all company safety and AIB requirements
      • Comply with all company rules and regulations
    • Level 2 - WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING ABLE TO EXECUTE ALL OF LEVEL 1 RESPONSIBILITIES PER THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT, IN ADDITION TO BEING ABLE TO CONDUCT AND FULFILL THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES;

      • Must be able to complete proper bottom pin setups for all machines
      • Must be able to complete proper bottom blanker setups for all machines
    • Level 3 - WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING ABLE TO EXECUTE ALL OF LEVELS 1-2 RESPONSIBILITIES PER THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT, IN ADDITION TO BEING ABLE TO CONDUCT AND FULFILL THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES;

      • Request replacement tooling from cutting manager or design department
      • Repair spare parts (pins, frames, clean used plates, etc.)
      • Inspect and receive new tooling coming in from vendors
      • Must be able to complete universal blanker setups (top & bottom)
      • Must be able to complete top stripper pin setups
    • Level 4 - WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING ABLE TO EXECUTE ALL OF LEVELS 1-3 RESPONSIBILITIES PER THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT, IN ADDITION TO BEING ABLE TO CONDUCT AND FULFILL THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES;

      • Inventory tooling; able to pull tooling and return it to the proper locations
      • Must be able to pull and return spot sheets
      • Ability to inspect a die and determine if it’s still usable or needs repaired/replaced
      • Must be able to distinguish the differences between short grain and long grain sheets for universal blanker purposes
    • Level 5 - WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING ABLE TO EXECUTE ALL OF LEVELS 1-4 RESPONSIBILITIES PER THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT, IN ADDITION TO BEING ABLE TO CONDUCT AND FULFILL THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES;

      • Must be able to re-rule a complete die
      • Must have the demonstrated ability to bend rule in case there is no spare rule supplied
      • Must have the demonstrated ability to problem solve issues with tooling to help operators on the machines in a timely and efficient manner
      • Must be able to fabricate parts in emergency situations to keep jobs runniing

     

    IDEALLY THE INDIVIDUAL THAT WOULD BE A STRONG FIT FOR THIS POSITION WOULD HAVE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES;

    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Control precision- the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust tooling for different jobs
    • Manual dexterity
    • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order, pattern according to a specific rule or specifications
    • Ability to perform routine maintenance
    • Ability to troubleshoot
    • Operate hand trucks and maneuver storage carts
    • Operate hand truck
    • Maneuver storage carts

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must have at least two years of professional working experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
    • Must be willing and able to work an 8-hour shift
    • Must be willing and able to work overtime
    • Knowledge/Skills:
      • Mechanical Aptitude; ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
      • Computer Proficient; ability to use Microsoft Office products to compile reports
      • Must have basic ability to execute mathematics and reading skills

    JOB PREFERENCES:

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • At least one year of experience in a die-cutting or tooling position in manufacturing
    • Experience working with tooling design and set-up

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

    • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, cut resistant gloves, hearing protection
    • OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
      • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 10 pounds, up to 15”-30”
      • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 20 pounds
      • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 50 pounds, up to chest height, 10”-40”
      • Occasionally (1-33% of the time) bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder and at waist or lower, twisting, stretching, pushing and pulling (up to forces of 60 pounds), carrying, kneeling, grasping (fine motor skills), stooping, crawling and fingering
      • Frequently (34-66% of the time) climbing and walking
      • Continuously (67% of the time) standing
