    OPPORTUNITY: We are a Foodservice cup forming manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Shelbyville, Illinois team.     JOB SUMMARY: Sets up and maintains equipment used in the manufacturing of paper blanks. Duties include: efficient operation of multiple blanking machines, housekeeping, trouble-shooting production issues, producing a quality product, completing start-up and shut down procedures, change-over of tooling, working in a productive manner and adhering to all safety guidelines.  Understand and align business operations through execution of the role, exceeding customer expectations and aligning with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

     

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork
    • Be actively engaged in safety programs
    • Ensure production and distribution of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standard
    • Perform continuous operation of blanking machines to ensure efficient production levels
    • Perform regular quality checks to maintain acceptable quality levels and trouble-shoot quality issues quickly as they arise
    • Manage workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are met
    • Housekeeping of work area and equipment
    • Maintain blanking machines to ensure proper function and efficient production levels
    • Perform proper machine change-overs, set-ups, adjustments and repairs of blanking equipment to ensure standard quality and production levels
    • Perform Blanker Operator duties in their absence as needed (i.e. break time)
    • Start and stop machines as required
    • Repair or replace broken or worn machine parts
    • Responsible for doing tooling changeovers
    • Perform duties in a productive manner, following safety guidelines at all times.
    • Once, qualified, instruct and mentor new Lead Operator Apprentices when needed
    • Properly use and understand PPM’s and TCC’s
    • Communicate with incoming/outgoing Lead Operator at the beginning and end of the shift for any immediate changes or issues in the department. Review department scheduled product runs for the shift and any product changeovers.
    • Maintain work system tool requirements
    • Meet KPM requirements
    • Complete daily paperwork and computer production reports
    • Fulfill overtime requirements necessary to ensure production requirements are met
    • Ensure shut-down and start-up requirements are met before and after the completion of the shift
    • Report to the Group Leader or Supervisor any machine downtime for repair or maintenance
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Department Supervisor

    Required Skills

    EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • 18 years or older
    • 3+ years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment
    • High degree of mechanical ability. Must have skills to perform the basic technical tasks
    • Well-developed communications and interpersonal skills
    • Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills
    • Ability to work in a high paced and multi-taking environment
    • Maintains positive team environment
    • Demonstrated organizational skills and highly detail oriented
    • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • High School Diploma or GED required

     

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

    • 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends off
    • Must be willing and able to work overtime

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation.  This includes: Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours; Lifting up to 50 lbs. to a height of 3 feet; Pushing blank carts weighing up to 1,500 lbs. (2-person job); Visual acuity and depth perception; Working in various temperatures & humidity levels.
