JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
This position will be responsible for safe operations of all of GPI’s caustic plants, technical support to the caustic plant managers, all caustic tank modification, energy technical support, high pressure equipment risk management and the balance of caustic plant operation. The overall priority for this position is cost reduction for each of the mills and fostering best practices.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
Operated the evaporators and caustic plant/department
Developed training that includes benchmarking, operational best practices, testing recommendations, maintenance and basic care best practice recommendations.
Developed and implemented long term sustainability initiatives to deliver benefits year over year.
Managed the day to day operations of a utilities department
Worked with maintenance department to resolve operational issues within the utilities areas
Maintained utilities areas in environmental compliance by managing the areas start-up, shutdown, malfunction and reliability plan as well as the leak detection and repair program required under MACT regulations.
Worked with laboratory technicians performing various quality assurance and environmental compliance functions.
Responsible for product quality including processed chemical standards, by-product quality, pulp and paper quality per ISO standards.
Managed all chemical trials with the utilities area.
Planned annual maintenance outages and upgrades in the utilities area.
Project work included: installation, rebuild, etc. List relevant project work
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
Four-year degree Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred or; 15 years of compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
Minimum of five years of caustic plant operations management experience
