    Eaton’s ES AMER PCS PCD division is currently seeking an Electronics Hardware Engineer. This role will be located in Moon Township, PA.

    Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The expected annual salary for this role is $80,000 (bachelor's degree) with a one-time $6,000 sign on bonus.

    What you’ll do:

    We are seeking an innovative problem-solver to design and develop hardware for electronic trip units used in circuit breakers for the Power Components Division (PCD). You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic global team to design and improve trip units and their capabilities. You will work with a team of dedicated engineers and experience the excitement of bringing new products to life from design concept through to production launch. This includes circuit design and test, debugging and troubleshooting, collaboration with contract manufacturers, and enabling features related to protection, metering, communication, and user interface.

    Essential Functions:

    • Performs electronics design that meets & exceeds marketing/customer requirements.
    • Creates fully documented designs that are easily understood by others.
    • Reviews own work as well as others work in formal design and quality reviews.
    • Tests own work or work of others, meeting quality and reliability goals.
    • Develops a high level of technical expertise in embedded design and over time becomes a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for trip unit functionality.
    • Performs requirement definition, issue tracking and design collaboration (for example using JAMA, Jira, & Confluence)
    • Plans work in detail at individual level, creating a robust and track-able plan, coordinated with the larger development team.
    • Provides domain expertise to product support personnel to solve field issues.
    • Improves engineering design and product support processes.
    • Performs and contributes to technical research and investigations.

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering from an accredited institution, with graduation date no later than August 2024
    • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
    • Minimum of one internship/co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months of electrical or electronics experience completed at the time of this application
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship now and in the future

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
    • Prior internship or co-op experience in electronics development.
    • Experience in electronics design, both digital and analog.
    • Experience using EDA tools, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
    • Experience with hardware bring-up and in-depth troubleshooting.
    • Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies and other lab equipment.
    • Experience with circuit simulation using SPICE.
    • Experience using defect tracking systems.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.

    Position Criteria

    Experience in electronics development in the following areas:

    • 8 bit through 32 bit microcontroller based systems (e.g. ARM Cortex, PIC)
    • Implementing hardware communications
    • Writing C and C++ embedded code to test hardware
    • Project tracking tools such as Jira
