POSITION SUMMARY:
The FP&A Senior Analyst – Sales Business Partner will serve as the bridge between the Finance function and the Sales organization. This role is responsible for analyzing sales performance, supporting the commission payout process, and delivering insights into pipeline trends, conversion metrics, and revenue growth opportunities. The Senior Analyst will develop sales-focused forecasts, reports, and dashboards, enabling Sales leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions. In addition, the FP&A Senior Analyst will play a key role in long-range planning and scenario modeling, linking sales performance to broader company growth objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with Sales leadership to monitor pipeline and conversion metrics, identifying performance trends and improvement opportunities.
- Analyze actual vs. planned sales performance, using results to update rolling forecasts and deliver actionable insights into drivers, risks, and opportunities to Finance and Sales leadership.
- Develop, automate, and maintain dashboards and reports to provide decision makers with visibility into sales performance and pipeline health.
- Provide scenario analysis on pipeline shifts, pricing strategies, and market dynamics to inform forecasts and long-range plans.
- Lead the quarterly commission payout process in Salesforce Spiff: validate inputs, audit data accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely payout.
- Act as the primary contact for Sales inquiries related to commissions, reporting accuracy, and financial insights.
- Analyze Accounts Receivable (AR) and collection trends, providing insights to improve working capital management and strengthen cash flow forecasting.
- Consolidate and analyze monthly sales results, providing clear reporting packages for Finance and Sales leadership.
- Support preparation of presentations for executive leadership and board reporting related to sales performance, pipeline trends, and revenue outlook.
- Provide ad hoc analyses to support decision-making across the Finance and Sales functions.
- Drive continuous improvement of sales forecasting and reporting processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex financial insights to non-financial leaders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex datasets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner across functions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced), Power BI, Salesforce Spiff, and Solver data warehouse/financial planning & reporting system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline.
- 2–4 years of progressive experience in FP&A, finance, or accounting.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and financial accounting policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with business leaders to interpret financial results, identify performance drivers, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Experience creating and maintaining financial models in Excel or other systems.
- Strong Excel skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with commission systems (Salesforce Spiff or similar).
- Experience with technology-enabled forecasting and data visualization tools (e.g., Solver, Anaplan, Power BI, Tableau), along with knowledge of database design concepts.
- Experience in public accounting and/or licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
- Experience in private equity-owned or construction/contract-based businesses.
