We are looking for an exceptional FPGA Engineer who will support existing and future products. This position is within the Fusion Engineering team of Equipment Solution Division, MKS Instruments. Our team designs the embedded controller as a platform to drive all the products within the Equipment Solution Division. Other titles: Electrical Engineer, Firmware Engineer.
You will be responsible for:
• FPGA code development/maintenance, module and system level simulation/validation, and in system verification
• Work with a cross functional team to determine design requirements, parameters, and success criteria
• Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
• Work collaboratively with all organizational functions
• Complete complex tasks on schedule with minimal supervision while delivering quality output
• This is a hybrid role however it is typically required to be onsite during system integration (25% of the time).
What you bring to the team, along with your curiosity (required skills)
Either:
• a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or other applicable engineering degree with 1+ years of experience (internship or co-op experience will be considered)
OR
• a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or other applicable engineering degree
AND experience with the following skills:
• FPGA firmware development experience using Verilog/System Verilog is required
• Experience debugging FPGA designs with simulation tools, ModelSim preferrred
• Lab equipment experience (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
• Ability to travel up to 10% (US and internationally) and remotely support key MKS customers.
It’s also nice if you have (preferred skills):
• Xilinx Vivado experience
• Ability to design for multiple clock domains in an FPGA, experience creating timing constraints
• Some experience with C/C++, including microcontrollers
• Python scripting
• Strong problem-solving skills and accountability to drive issues to closure
• Ability to succeed in a fast paced, technically challenging, and multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Source control experience, Git preferred
• Familiar with standard office applications (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
