    Job Description

    The Field Service Team is dedicated to resolving consumer quality field issues in a timely fashion at the lowest cost to Fortune Brands. We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Field Service Engineer with a strong background in electrical engineering and experience in software development kits (SDKs), APIs, and wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and Bluetooth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing on-site technical support, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance for our consumer-connected products. The role requires a deep understanding of both hardware and software, with the ability to ensure seamless operation and integration of connected devices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • On-Site Installation & Troubleshooting:
      • Install, configure, and test consumer-connected products at customer sites, ensuring they meet quality standards.
      • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues related to Wi-FI, Z-Wave, and Bluetooth communication protocols.
    • Customer Support & Training:
      • Provide on-site customer support, addressing technical inquiries, and guiding clients through product setup and usage.
      • Provide training to customers on the operation of connected products and troubleshooting techniques.
    • SDK & API Integration:
      • Understand our software development kits (SDKs) and APIs to troubleshoot integration and customized solutions for clients.
      • Collaborate with internal development teams to ensure smooth integration between hardware and software for seamless user experiences.
    • Documentation & Reporting:
      • Document field service activities, including customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and maintenance performed.
      • Provide detailed feedback on product performance, usability, and areas for improvement.
    • Technology Expertise:
      • Maintain a deep understanding of wireless communication technologies, including Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and Bluetooth, and their applications in consumer devices.
      • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and product innovations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field service engineer role, preferably in consumer electronics or IoT devices.
      • Hands-on experience working with SDKs, APIs, and custom software solutions for consumer products.
      • Proficiency in Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and Bluetooth technologies for device communication and integration.
    • Skills:
      • Strong electrical engineering background with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
      • Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and wireless communication protocols.
      • Experience with programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++) is a plus.
      • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically in high-pressure environments.
      • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.

    Additional Information

    Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $60,000 USD - $99,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
