  • Responsibilities

    Summary:

    The Formulation Technician role is responsible for assignments related to the day-to-day activities of the R&D laboratory in a manner that results in high quality products, technical sales support, and customer satisfaction. This position will work collaboratively with the entire organization in a fast-paced research and industrial environment.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Prepare material, equipment, and workplace by the testing schedule
    • Formulate admixtures and perform needed quality tests
    • Record, calculate, analyze, and present test results
    • Gather and maintain computerized data records
    • Write laboratory reports
    • Ensure conformance with ACI, ASTM standards and in-house testing & laboratory procedures
    • Maintain equipment, clean and organize laboratory, and material storage areas
    • Manage workloads to meet required deadlines

    Key Performance Indicators for this position:

    Quantitative

    • Adherence and knowledge of safety regulations
    • Ability to carry out formulation and testing procedures efficiently and consistently
    • Effective control of lab inventory, measured by the ability to carry out test orders without delay, as well as accuracy of testing reports
    • Proficient record keeping, reporting, and documentation
    • Efficient experimental planning, communication, and teamwork

    Qualitative

    • Knowledge of product applications and customer needs related to those products in order to ensure customer delight
    • Build relationship with internal customers
    • Responsiveness to supervisor
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Self-direction, time management, sense of urgency, and follow through
    • Ownership of organization and appearance of laboratory facilities, equipment, storage area and tools

    Required Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Passion for technical knowledge and learning
    • Prefer a candidate who is working towards an engineering or chemical degree, but not required
    • Preferred prior cement/concrete and/or construction industry experience, but not required
