Job Description

Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking an Industrial Design Intern for our North Olmsted, Ohio Moen office. The intern will support the Innovation Team by leveraging design capabilities through product development to enable short- to long-term growth within new or existing categories. This role will also provide a hands-on development experience in front end innovation process and design thinking methodology. This position reports to the Product Manager, Innovation. This is a year-round position, working full-time during Summer 2023 and part-time during the school semesters.

Basic Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• Utilize design thinking, trend analysis, and form development to bring new innovation concepts to life
• Support the presentation of new product concepts through 2D and 3D prototyping
• Participate in team meetings & assist with assigned activities to support cross-functional innovation teams: Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, R&D, Market Research, Industrial Design and Project Management
• Support and participate in internal and external workshops to generate, screen, and optimize a diverse set of new product ideas
  • Assist with execution of research activities
  • Assist in developing content & concept boards for new product exploration
• Assist with administrative duties, meeting support and event logistics
• Assist with marketing activities as needed – such as formatting, locating, and compiling data to support business modeling, competitive landscape, & pricing decisions
• Potential for right candidate to take on a small project that can be completed within their session

Requirements:

• Hours: Full-time available over summer and holiday breaks, approximately 10-30 hours per week during school sessions

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or related field of study
• Ability to develop/explore form through sketching and 3D prototyping
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Previous exposure to or interest in design thinking or human centered design principles
• Nimble and flexible, with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrates resourcefulness as well as team and interpersonal skills to participate in cross-functional teams
• Use of Cintiq, Sketchbook Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator CC (or similar programs) desired
• Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
