    Job Description

    The Global Environmental Programs Manager leads the development of solutions, programs, and plans for continuous improvement in environmental performance across Fortune Brands Innovations. This role drives implementation of rigorous corrective/preventive action and sharing of best practices to improve performance and reduce risk. This position engages in structured problem-solving, provides key input to senior leadership to support decision making, and acts as the subject matter expert on cross-functional initiatives and projects for the organization globally.

    Position location-– This role is designated as a hybrid role which includes working at least 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in one of our office located in North Olmsted (OH), Maumee (OH), Deerfield (IL), and Oak Creek (WI) to foster better collaboration, connection, and innovation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serve as subject matter expert for Fortune Brands Innovations in the area of Environmental compliance, risk and impact reduction, and strategy.
    • Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Develop and manage assessment process for critical environmental areas and drive sustainable improvement across the Company.
    • Use deep domain expertise to identify, develop and lead environmental improvement initiatives across the global organization that reduce compliance risk and improve environmental impact of operations; lead project and cross-functional teams to drive success of environmental and sustainability initiatives.
    • Lead engagement with applicable regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders when required; represent FBIN as subject matter leader with external stakeholders.
    • Work closely with operations and other internal functions with respect to employee environmental compliance and programs. Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory requirements for managing and reporting environmental events.
    • Lead and/or provide oversight for environmental permitting, waste management, vendor assessment, shipping/receiving hazardous material and waste, chemical management/approval/reporting, remedial programs, and environmental reserves.
    • Train, mentor, and develop EHS resources and leadership with respect to environmental programs, requirements, and risks.
    • Audit compliance with environmental permits and other obligations; lead thorough permit review and change management processes.
    • Drive thorough environmental incident review, sharing of learnings, and follow up/closure; use learnings from events to support strategy and drive continuous improvement across the enterprise; lead investigations of select spills/releases, exceedances, or potentially severe environmental events.
    • Monitor and understand emerging trends in environmental programs and requirements; identify and communicate potential impacts; develop short- and long-term strategies to ensure adequate preparedness and response.​
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of a degree, commensurate experience will be considered
    • A minimum of 12 years of related experience required, including leading environmental programs in a manufacturing environment
    • Advanced knowledge of the EPA regulations covering across all environmental media; experience with complex air and water permit requirements and procedures; experience evaluating and managing environmental consultants
    • Experience with remedial system assessment, design, operation, and monitoring; experience assessing and managing environmental reserves
    • Extensive experience conducting environmental audits and compliance assessments
    • Advanced knowledge of pollution control technologies and environmental sampling required; experience with energy and waste reduction strategies and projects preferred
    • Experience leading environmental management system development and execution
    • Experience with global operations and regulations and requirements preferred
    • Experience engaging people across organizations and building a culture of environmental excellence required
    • Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation is required; experience Learning Teams preferred.
    • Team player with the ability to think conceptually, flexibly, and strategically
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including solid project management skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
    • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally without restriction; ability to travel up to 35%
    • Professional environmental certifications preferred
