Forget special projects for newbies, our Communications - Social Media Intern will enjoy a hands-on learning experience in production where you will assist Garmins Marketing Communication department in a team-oriented environment under supervision. We are looking for a full time Communications - Social Media Intern for our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will assist with creating content that aligns with Garmin's brand standards for the company's owned channels, leveraging social media to promote new products, social campaigns and other programs. Key responsibilities include: Create and maintain social media editorial calendar for sharing interesting, timely content on all company-owned platforms Assist with coordinating multimedia stories and assets for the company's blog and social channels Assist with monitoring the brand and relevant conversations online to engage with influencers and assess and mitigate brand risk Assist with analyzing and reporting on social media success metrics including competitive research Assist in marketing brainstorms and creative planning sessions for new products and topical events Qualified candidates for this role will possess the following education, experience and skills: Pursing a Bachelors Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, or another related major Strong academics (cumulative minimum 3.0 GPA as a general rule) Demonstrated experience using a variety of social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) Quick learner with a demonstrated ability to work proactively and effectively to achieve milestones and timelines Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and changing environment Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others Desirable Qualifications: Technologically savvy with experience in and/or enthusiasm for navigation, consumer electronics, wireless, fitness, and/or automotive electronics Knowledge of Garmin's brand and product lines Demonstrated passion for social media and emerging technologies, social media software or tools a plus Required Documents: Please attach a writing sample to your application.
