Our corporate headquarters in Waukesha, WI is seeking a high school level STEM intern. The STEM Internship is designed to give a high school student an exposure to the field of electrical engineering. In this position the candidate will learn the basics of engineering lab work, such as soldering, proper use of meters and scopes, as well as test methodologies for generators. Additionally the candidate will be introduced to aspects of CAD design and the process for moving a product from design to production. This position reports to the Engineering Supervisor. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Setup and execute test plans for design verification (thermals, power analysis, EMC, etc.) and functional validation (embedded system firmware functionality) of electronics systems used to control generators and transfer switches. Responsible for the electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests of current and new product designs. Prepare informal and formal tests reports. Assist in assembly and implementation of test equipment. Setup test equipment and products in proper sequence. Create and update schematics, wiring diagrams, and CAD drawings. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Must be actively enrolled in high school level STEM courses Preferred Qualifications: Senior enrolled in STEM courses; Soldering experience; Familiarity working with Electronic Test Tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies, function generator, hipot, etc.); Understanding of basic electronics and electrical techniques and theories. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
