General Dynamics Ethos & Corporate Responsibility Commitment to Ethics Commitment to Employees Supporting Service Members Supporting Communities Environmental Responsibility Job Description The AutoFrameCylinder position encompasses both welding and shipfitting functions: Qualified candidates will fabricate frames and cylinders to produce completed cylinders that are ready for outfitting functions; this is accomplished through the use of hydraulic and electronic fixtures coupled with various fitting and welding techniques Candidates must be mechanically inclined and capable of interpreting work packages, fixture set up sheets, drawings, ER's, and SSP's Must be able to pass semi-automatic and mechanized spray and pulse arc test (GMAPLS, GMASPS & GMASPM) prior to being granted a position within the AFC This position is located in North Kingstown, RI Education/ Experience Seeking all skill levels: 1+ year of previous welding experience is required Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required Shipfitting/metal fabrication experience is preferred Previous EB AFC experience is preferred Previous experience in manual and/or semi-automatic welding processes is preferred High school diploma/GED preferred; additional preference given for EB Apprentice programs Basic math skills required Skills Applicant must apply for a DoD security clearance as a condition of employment Must possess basic mathematical, communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to read and interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural drawings, technical manuals, test documents and diagrams Must be able to work all shifts, at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required Must be able to pass a destructive bend weld test, a semi-automatic and mechanized spray and pulse test and meet minimum visual acceptance requirements Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment, meet organizational goals and follow all verbal and written instructions as directed Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools Some lifting will be required, overhead welding required, must be able to operate impact guns and high torque machinery
