We are seeking experienced, motivated Engineers who have talent, passion, and the tenacity to win. Primary Responsibilities: The GM Exterior Lighting Team offers opportunities across a spectrum of engineering fields including mechanical, electrical, physics, optics, etc. This product engineering position involves responsibility for all activities - including definition of requirements, tooling, validation testing, and launching in an assembly plant - during the development of Exterior Lighting products throughout a vehicles life cycle. This role requires an engineer to lead and drive a cross functional product development team (PDT) that includes lighting suppliers as key members. The ideal candidate is one who desires to build their technical depth as an engineer within exterior lighting. This candidate possesses exemplary communication, project management skills, and is a passionate, hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions. In addition, it requires collaboration with peers in the creative design (Styling), purchasing, manufacturing, and quality functions. Responsibilities include: * Generating and executing technical solutions for Exterior Lighting Products to support new vehicle programs. * Performing engineering evaluation analysis. * Working cross-functionally to implement process and product improvements and to support prototype and production build activities. * Balancing business imperatives, including, but not limited to cost, mass, and timing. * Production release and launch of Exterior Lighting systems * Communicating information to and from internal and external customer organizations. * Staying abreast of relevant new technology and competitive products. * Assist/Lead in the development of lamp engineering requirements * Responsible to integrate and collaborate with mating interfaces * Assist/Lead Product Development Team meetings (suppliers, designers, engineers, imperatives, part lists, validation, manufacturing, supplier quality, etc.) * Assist/Lead in the development of criteria and typical sections (Unigraphics math data) * Responsible for developing DFMEA plans and electrical/mechanical interface agreements * Travels as required (including international) Required Qualifications: * Minimum of 2 years of product development experience in automotive lighting * Strong communication and technical project management skills * Knowledge of global lighting regulations * Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering * This position requires legally operating a motor vehicle on a daily basis Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with engineering design studio and launch * Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma process * Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) **Primary Location: **US-MI-Warren (Tech Ctr) **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Engineering **Organization: **General Motors **Job Posting: **Jun 22, 2018, 12:15:37 PM
