    SUMMARY:

    The Manager, Safety, Health & Environment will provide world class expertise to fully support the Clarksville facility's safety objectives through demonstrated leadership.  This position is a member of the leadership team, directly responsible for managing the safety systems ensuring the health and welfare of all employees, vendors, contractors, visitors, etc.

     

    JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Accountable for managing people, setting directions, and deploying safety, health, security and fire protection resources for the facility
    • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes to ensure compliance
    • Assist in developing an effective EHS communication process to make EHS priorities and performance visible
    • Oversee incident investigation process to identify root causes. Ensure proper documentation of findings and implementation of preventative measures.  Review and/or report findings from accident investigations, facilities audits and inspections, environmental testing and safety activities.  Monitor the completion of action items generated.
    • Effectively work with medical providers to ensure proper medical care for employees sustaining workplace injuries or illnesses
    • Maintain injury records and post safety related information, as required. Maintain written programs to ensure they are current and follow corporate models. Inspect property, equipment, and work practices for compliance with regulatory and insurance carrier standards
    • Manage Worker's Compensation case load
    • Enforce policy relating to post-accident drug testing and disciplinary action.   Manage post-accident, return to work accommodations
    • Educate employees on the regulatory standards applicable to the facility. Instruct all employees on internal EHS policy and procedures. Ensure required safety and environmental training has been identified and completed for new and existing employees
    • Facilitates and participates in job safety analysis, process hazard analysis with preference for engineering solutions and ‘doing it right the first time' concept
    • Assist with the maintenance of the company's Environmental management system
    • Organize and maintain EHS performance, compliance, policy and procedural information including electronic backup of critical information
    • Develops and implements industry best practice systems for an effective EHS program while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, reporting, EHS statistics and trend analysis
    • Research and keep informed of pertinent information and developments in areas such as state and federal laws and regulations such as OSHA and USEPA
    • Provides on-the-floor EHS coaching and recognition; and assists with implementation and support of EHS responsibilities

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Bachelors Degree, or higher in Engineering, Environmental, Occupational, or Health & Safety, or related field
    • 3-5 years experience as a Safety Supervisor/EHS Manager in an industrial manufacturing environment
    • Strong passion for EHS as demonstrated by strong experience and commitment
    • Ability to influence others, lead teams and drive safety engagement and improvements
    • A demonstrated commitment to a participative work environment.
    • Ability to develop and effectively deliver training
    • Project management skills to include the ability to develop and implement EHS processes
    • Strong, engaging, people-centered leadership style
    • Proactive, assertive and ability to work with a sense of urgency
    • Ability to plan, prioritize and work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • High level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work varying work hours to engage the entire workforce
