    The Purchasing Agent performs an essential role in the Supply Chain department by managing complex and technical processes with regards to inventory replenishment, vendor relations and the management and distribution of electrical materials across the Irby Electric footprint.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Utilizes ERP system and other web-based tools as required to place purchase orders, provide oversight and review the flow of goods and services between vendors and branches
    • Utilizes all electronic tools available to transmit orders, invoices and various other communication in the most effective and cost-efficient manner available (i.e., EDI, VMI, etc.)
    • Ensures the accuracy of key aspects of the product file and is the primary manager of all aspects related to assigned vendors such as vendor relations, pricing and quotes, manufacturing or supply chain issues and quality control
    • Ability to effectively communicate market changes, vendor updates, supply chain strategy, pricing changes or various other notifications to large audiences, in person or over web calls
    • Coordinates with salesperson and accounts payable to find resolution on any purchase order issues
    • Recommends changes to supply chain or purchasing processes or methods to improve efficiency and accuracy of transactions and data collection
    • A strong understanding and background with the Microsoft Office suite of tools, with an emphasis on Excel
    • Maintains record of key contacts across the entire footprint, both internal and external such as manufacturer’s agents and direct manufacturer sales teams
    • Keeps accurate ship dates on all purchase orders and updates or expedites purchase orders where necessary
    • Knowledge of the standard methods, practices and procedures utilized in the acquisition of inventory
    • Learn and apply established rules, regulations, policies and procedures as well as any other company compliance policies
    • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, to exchange information.
    • Effective organizational skills and the ability to multitask and maintain accurate records
    • High (Intermediate/ Advanced) level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to compile statistics and develop reports
    • 4+ years procurement or purchasing experience or other supply chain related business experience
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university

  • Qualifications

    MAJOR:

    Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.  Students in their junior or senior year are preferred

    TYPICAL SCHEDULE:

    • Typical schedule is an 8--hour Monday through Friday assignment.  However, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally.  These schedules may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
    • Employee must be punctual and dependable

    PHYSICAL DEMAND:

    • Sitting for standing for extended periods of time up to 8 - hours
    • Walking for extended periods of time throughout various departments
    • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other various electronic devices
    • Use of various hand and electric tools or equipment
