    This is an excellent opportunity to start your human resources career at GPI.  This role is in the HR Manager talent pipeline.  Therefore, the selected candidate must be relocatable for future promotion.

     

    Job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

    • Provides Human Resources Generalist support in areas such as job code management, staffing, employee relations, training and development and other related areas. • Monitor and provide necessary training and coaching to managers and supervisors. • Complete day to day administration of human resources programs including completing all the necessary paperwork to enroll, terminate and modify employee records. • Community outreach and lead employer of choice initiatives. • Manage hourly employment offer processes and all pre-employment steps – references, background check and drug screen – in completing the hiring process. • Administers job posting process to ensure timely postings of positions. Reviews internal applications and works with the hiring manager to ensure proper placement of internal and external candidates. • Performs new employee orientation to foster positive outlook toward mill and company goals. • Supports company diversity and inclusion objectives, activities and initiatives. • Supports a high performance culture that increases employee engagement. • Provides first level HR guidance and support to managers and employees. • Complete transactions for all employee changes that represent a change in status among which includes promotions, transfers, separations, approved leaves, etc. • Process Human resources information system data to HRIS team and maintain as necessary. • Other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Supervisor or Human Resources Manager.

     

    Short term promotion to HR Manager opportunity:

    This HR Generalist position is designed to be trained then be promoted to HR manager position within the company short term.  Must be able to relocate to other GPI location when being promoted to HR Manager. 

     

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS: • General schedule is an 8-10 hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail. Weekend duty is also expected.

     

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours. • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs. • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

    Required Skills

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources or a relatable field preferred • PHR certification preferred • Labor and Employment Law (NLRB, EEO, ADA, AA, FMLA, etc.) • Recruiting and staffing practices • Multiple HR disciplines

    SKILLS:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required. • Demonstrated success in a fast paced, action oriented organization. • Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative, team environment. • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills. • Business acumen as it relates to Human Resources. • Demonstrated knowledge of federal / state employment laws and compliance.

    Required Experience

    • 2 – 5 years of HR experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment • Recruiting experience • Experience in a union environment preferable • Experience with SAP preferable • PHR certification preferred
