  • Responsibilities

    The Shipping employee will operate industrial truck equipment with lifting devices such as forklifts and clamp trucks to lift, stack, or move product, equipment, or materials between loading, processing and storage areas in the warehouse.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

     

    • Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, supervisors, and purchasing officer per company policy.
    • Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments.
    • Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets.
    • Examines contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, bill of lading, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipment
    • Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
    • Transports materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle as needed.
    • Loads trucks using a forklift.
    • Moves levers, turns steering wheel, and presses pedals to drive truck and controls movement of lifting apparatus.
    • Stages loads for transport by stacking, arranging, and securing loads.
    • Unloads and stacks materials by raising and lowering lifting devices.
    • Supplies production with materials as needed.
    • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
    • Performs other clerical duties.
    • Assists other departments as needed.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
    • Ability to safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (forklift & clamp truck).
    • Basic understanding of warehouse procedures.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of use with Microsoft Office Suite/inventory software to maintain records and input data.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer and data entry skills.
    • Visual color discrimination, ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color.
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Good attendance

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent.
    • 1-2 years of related shipping experience preferred.
    • Training in forklift and clamp truck safe operating procedures.
    • Experience working in a fast pace manufacturing environment.

    COLOR MANAGEMENT

    • Successfully passing a vision assessment

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
