FINISHING/GLUER OPERATOR

Sets up and operates machine to glue and fold window; ensure that the Gluer is Operating in the safest possible manner; that the quality of the produced product exceeds our customer’s expectations and that performance goals are achieved. To perform this job successfully, an individual must obey all Safety procedures. Individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Sets up and operates gluers; and related peripheral/supporting equipment for manufacturing folded and glued carton
• Observes automatic feeding, folding, and gluing of box blanks to detect machine malfunctions
• Inspects completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work order specifications, and adjust machinery as necessary to correct variations
• Performs Preventative Maintenance
• Disassembles machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts, using hand tools
• Review job ticket.
• Performs, understands and follows make ready as required which includes general set up of the gluer or window machine
• Run the job according to customers specifications
• Quality control of all gluing aspects including carton alignment, glue adhesion and proper folding
• Maintains a clean area around gluer. Housekeeping is imperative
• Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
• Ability to interpret and translate designs and documentation.
• Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, and debug to finalize majority of machine lines required in house or at the customers facility.
• Thorough attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of technical written (and verbal)
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Visual color discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent.
• Heavy mechanical/operator level skills in a manufacturing environment.
• Two years of related manufacturing focus experience in a converting facility or similar type preferred.
• Must have extensive knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic components.
• Trained knowledge in mechanical assembly standards, engineering standards, or other applicable procedures and parts flow.
• Experience working in a fast pace manufacturing environment.

COLOR MANAGEMENT

• Successfully passing a vision assessment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
