    SALES INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY

    Located in the Battle Creek sales office, the sales intern will have the opportunity to learn about working in the fields of Packaging Engineering and Sales, gain valuable carton expertise and learn about specs, trials, and consumer-driven package design, and interact closely with various functional areas within Graphic Packaging and the customer. This Internship is a gateway to future GPI full-time Positions: High exposure to Sales Management Development Program.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    • Manage and/or provide support for multiple packaging projects from beginning to implementation by working with the customer and internal cross functional areas.
    • Complete specs, support trials, complete sustainability reporting, and work closely with CAD to create consumer-driven package designs.
    • Work as a GPI employee on-site at Kellogg Corporate Office in Battle Creek
    • Travel with GPI Technical Sales Team Member to customer (Kellogg) and GPI plant locations
    • Will work with primary, secondary and tertiary packaging
    • Learn about folding carton and paperboard industry by attending GPI Carton College and via various projects and support assignments
    • All other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • The ability to deal with a variety of customers, both internal and external, in a highly professional and diplomatic manner.
    • Ability to persuade, negotiate, and sell. Positive outlook.

     

     

    Required Experience

    • Junior level courses completed at Michigan State University School of Packaging.
    • Excellent interpersonal, telephone, presentation, oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • PC proficient in Windows-based programs, Microsoft Excel, and the internet. CAD skills a plus.
    • Strong technical aptitude.
