    SPECIALIST SR., FINANCIAL

     

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    The Sr. Financial Specialist position is responsible for assisting the Controller in the more complex, analytical projects, operating model and standards maintenance and assisting in insuring adequate internal controls are in place and adhered to.

     

    JOB FUNCTION:

    • Areas of primary responsibility include but are not limited to 1) financial reporting and analysis (SAP); 2) production reporting and analysis; 3) budgeting and forecasting; 4) product costing; and 5) capital return on investment analysis. 
    • Develop, implement, and maintain effective management information systems to provide operating management with the data necessary for measuring the mill’s performance.
    • Assist the Controller in maintaining the mill’s compliance with corporate and division policies and procedures and that accounting records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
    • Assist with the month-end accounting close including journal voucher preparation, account balancing and other closing activities as directed by the Controller.  Provide management with clear, concise explanations for results at variance with expectations.
    • Assist the Controller in preparing the annual operating plan and developing the standard costs of the paper grades the mill manufactures.  Also provide support to the Controller in the area of Strategic Planning and the 5-year Capital Plan.
    • Assist with evaluation of Mill capital projects and work with various departments on operations optimization and improvement projects.
    • Implementation and streamlining of the Supply Chain Operating Model and development of mill cost standards.
    • Assist Mill with streamlining of finance functions.
    • Responsible for assisting in developing an annual operating spending budget.

     

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 - 7 years experience in a financial function, 2+ years being within a manufacturing organization
    • This position requires a self-starter that can not only learn on the fly but coach and teach others to promote a good working environment. The individual must have great people skills to deal with individuals throughout the organization and be able to work effectively in a manufacturing organization.

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree, Finance or related field
    • MBA preferred

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS:

    • Highly effective communication skills, written and verbal
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts
    • Strong leadership skills, i.e. relationship building, commands a business and technical presence
    • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook, and SAP
    • Administrative, organizational, management and problem-solving skills

     

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
    • Part of weekend duty rotation.
    • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
