    JOB TITLE: 2ND MAINTENANCE MECHANIC                       

    DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE

    WORK SCHEDULE: 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (Midnight)

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Maintenance Mechanic’s responsibilities is to maintain machines in the best running condition, troubleshoot any machine problems, responds to all maintenance calls promptly and solve machine related problems with the least amount of down time. Mechanics will perform the following: basic electrical troubleshooting and basic fabrication (such as lathe, mill, mig/tig welding, etc) comprehend PLC ladder logics, and safely use a variety of hand tools, pressing equipment, lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, sanders, and lift equipment. Maintenance Mechanic will also perform shut down procedures, check the power, water, and vacuum pressure of machines and maintain required written reports and documentation. Duties also include performing troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on production support equipment such as compressors, chillers, dryers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, fix pumps, etc. All employees must follow all safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles.

    Additional Information

    • Must be able to walk around throughout the department; surfaces are mostly concrete
    • Must be able to carry approximately 20-25 lbs to and from short distances
    • Must be able to lift/lower approximately 75 lbs ; items lifted may be lifted several inches from one surface to another
    • Must be able to push parts/tools on pushcart from the parts room to machine/equipment. The employee may also push a rolling tool box from various areas to work on equipment.
    • Must be able to climb 12 foot ladders or step stools to access equipment or rooftops
    • Must be able to reach between waist and shoulder height which occurs occasionally throughout the shift basis
    • Must be able to bend throughout the work shift. A majority of bending occurs in a slight forward bend for brief periods of times. This may be performed on a repetitive basis. Bending may also occur on a prolonged basis
    • Must be able to kneel to perform maintenance on a piece of machinery or equipment. Knee pads are provided to the employee
    • Must be able to crawl under conveyor belts and/or other equipment to check for damage or perform repairs
    • Must be able to work overtime including weekends. Graphic Packaging operates on a 24 hour, 7 day/week basis

    Required Experience

    • 3 or more years of recent mechanical and electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair experience. Manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
