    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    Direct the Quality and Continuous Improvement Process for the GPI facility.  This involves the development, implementation and preservation of the validity of the Quality System, the proper allocation of available capital to equipment and processes which move the business forward and the identification of personnel training requirements relative to new equipment and processes.  The major objective is to improve the people and processes to remove cost from the system and to improve our product quality so that we are more competitive in the marketplace and our business grows.

    JOB FUNCTIONS: _Job functions include, but are not limited to the following. _

    • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.
    • Direct the activities of suppliers, production employees, and customers to resolve quality problems and continuously improve the level of quality.
    • Provide leadership to Continuous Improvement staff to optimize the role of CI within the plant.
    • Develop closed-loop quality system driven to reduce process variation and ensure plant compliance.
    • Act as change agent to drive continuous improvement of production and service processes to improve quality and increase efficiency, which includes root cause analysis and problem solving.
    • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers and/or CI Organization to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
    • Ensures plant’s compliance to 3rd party Functional Control/Pre-Requisite program requirements including: AIB, HACCP, SQF, and other customer-mandated programs.
    • Conducts annual training in HACCP, GMP’s Food defense, and Allergens
    • Oversee and manage pest control program with 3rd party, including required corrective actions from any documented findings
    • Develop and implement product quality plans and procedures by overseeing gauge requirements, frequency, responsibility and methods to ensure compliance to process and product specifications.
    • Direct, through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure quality control over raw materials and final products.
    • Oversee Chain of Custody Certification Program
    • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability.
    • Serve as customer contact for quality issues.
    • Represent Graphic Packaging at customer locations.
    • Respond to, evaluate, and resolve customer complaints
    • Track and manage customer feedback regarding quality.
    • Direct activities, duties, and projects of CI personnel.
    • Implement practices and controls to drive an effective supplier management system.
    • Work with Raw material vendors on material specifications and process/track vendor complaints
    • Oversee new business transition.
    • Oversee Continuous Improvement website for local plant.
    • Drive cost savings initiatives and track progress towards plant goals.
    • Manage customer specification system.
    • Oversee trials. Create and communicate trial plans.
    • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
    • Must strictly adhere to Graphic Packaging International’s Commitment to SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and HACCP Requirements, Food Safety, and Food Defense.
    • In the absence of the CI Manager, the Quality Supervisor or CI Lead will fulfill their position.
    • Responsible for ownership of following modes of the Quality Management System including: Voice of the Customer, Overseeing Document Control (and updating and approving their own files), Functional Control, Overseeing the Measurement Management Systems, Auditing the Transition Point Control Process (in manufacturing process), Standard Work and Training, and Owning the Statistical Process Control systems

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field preferred

    • 3-5 years’ experience in quality, or equivalent experience

    • Six Sigma experience a plus

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to lead and direct others

    • Prior management or supervisory experience preferred

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet research skills

    • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control theories

    • Experience in implementation of technical testing in production environments

    • General knowledge of printing and converting technologies preferred

    • Experience with Minitab software a plus

    • 10% local Travel required for customer visits

    • Visual Color Discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • This position is typically an 8-hour workday with occasional overtime and weekend work requirements.
    • Candidate must be able to lift 10-20 lbs occasionally in a production floor environment.
    • General office work with occasional bending lifting and standing.

                necessitating the need for hearing protection.
