  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY: Maintain, repair, and install all machinery in the plant.

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

    • Preventative maintenance
    • Repairing machinery
    • Machining parts
    • Fabricating parts and install if needed
    • Design machine parts
    • Assemble parts
    • Use of hand tools
    • Troubleshooting (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic)
    • Make and read prints
    • Work with outside contractors on our equipment
    • Building and grounds keeping

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); additional knowledge in maintenance trade 

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

          Maintenance training 

          Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s license. 

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to make a pushing and pulling motion when sawing with a hand saw unit; occasionally required to climb ladders, scaffolding, stairs, poles, or inclined surfaces when getting or putting away parts from stock room and when getting to shop/plant; rarely required to work above ground when measuring shaft/pulley on any upper level; frequently required to bend over equipment when cutting parts, working on machinery, or dealing with stock; frequently required to crouch and stoop when lifting material from floor to table or when measuring equipment in plant for repair; occasionally required to kneel when measuring equipment for repair or parts; occasionally required to twist and reach when installing and checking parts and equipment in machinery; occasionally required to use eye, hand, and foot coordination when grinding skiving wheels and when milling critical parts; occasionally required to use hand coordination of both hands for fine and gross manipulation, simple and firm grasping, and for wrist rotation. 

    The employee is continuously required to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently required to lift 10 to 50 pounds and occasionally required to lift over 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to carry over 50 pounds.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to dust, heat, vibrations, toxic conditions, and potential work hazards.
