    TOOLING DESIGNER - STAUNTON, VA

    OUR STAUNTON, VA FACILITY TO LOOKING FOR A TOOLING DESIGN ASSISTANT/ASSISTANT CAD TABLE TECHNICIAN TO JOIN OUR INNOVATION AND DESIGN TEAM. THE INDIVIDUAL IN THIS POSITION WILL PRIMARILY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTING THE PRODUCTION TOOLING DESIGNER IN CUTTING AND ASSEMBLING OF TOOLING. THIS POSITION REPORTS TO THE PREPRESS MANAGER.

    JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Use of CAD software to design and make tooling parts
    • Use of CNC router table to cut various wood and plastics
    • Use of Vertical Milling Machine to machine parts as needed for various metals
    • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting as required on Router table, Mill and 3D Printer
    • Manage raw material / expendables inventory and issue PO’s as required
    • Repair and modify tooling as required using set jigs and procedures
    • Must work independently with deadlines
    • Maintain logs as required
    • Complete other tasks as assigned
    • Communicate with outside vendors to order dies and tooling as needed
    • Understand measuring tools, measurements and tolerances

    IDEALLY THE INDIVIDUAL THAT WOULD BE A STRONG FIT FOR THIS POSITION WOULD HAVE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES;

    • Previous CNC experience (Vertical Milling Machine)
    • Previous carpentry / workshop experience (i.e.-use of power tools/milling machine)
    • CAD program use and experience (i.e. AutoCad, Solidworks, CimPack)
    • 3D Printing experience with 3D modeling with SolidWorks
    • At least one year of professional working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and can multi-task
    • Ability to work with various departments within a manufacturing setting in a collaborative and productive manner

    AN INDIVIDUAL IN THIS POSITION MUST BE ABLE TO LEARN AND DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS;

    • Willing and able to learn CAD software
    • Strong Organizational Skills
    • Use of Microsoft Office applications
    • Comply with safety regulations
    • Comply with company rules and regulations
    • Willing and able to learn CIM-Pack, Artois CAD (packaging specific software)

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Has completed college/technical schooling courses in mechanical/manufacturing/tooling or similar relevant coursework in tooling design OR have had at least three years of equivalent professional experience in a tooling/tooling design/manufacturing design position
    • SKILLS: Mechanical

    JOB PREFERENCES:

    • Experience and knowledge utilizing CNC equipment
    • Experience and knowledge building or utilize CAD for design
    • Experience and knowledge with 3D printing or similar software applications
    • Experience using milling equipment
    • Knowledge of industrial tooling and design
    • Education: Associate degree or higher in Engineering/Manufacturing/Tooling or a relevant field of study

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • These duties include but are not limited to physical requirements office work such as typing, sitting, filing and walking when necessary
    • Frequently standing (34-66% of the time)
    • Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds (1-10% of the time)
