  • Responsibilities

    Develops policies, directs, and coordinates human resources activities such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, GPI culture, training, and employee services by performing the duties listed below.

    Required Skills

    1. Administers and monitors all core aspects of the Human Resources function at the plant level. Ensures that the operation is within guidelines regarding Federal and State laws.  Maintains all records and files reports as required by the proper government agency.
    2. Supervises activities of Human Resources Coordinator and/or Payroll Coordinator.
    3. Contributes to the development of an effective workforce and to a positive working environment in the Plant via employee development training, coordination of employee programs, etc. Counsels and advises management and employees on problem resolution, supervisory discretion, and policy interpretation.
    4. Works directlyu with union leadership and Labor Relations Staff on all matters relating to union issues
    5. Responsible for compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
    6. Assists Health, Safety & Environmental Manager with Worker’s Compensation claims.
    7. Administers the Graphic Packaging Benefits Program. Maintains records and provides assistance to employees as needed regarding insurance, retirement plan, etc. 
    8. Responsible for all employment activity at the Plant level; monitors plant staffing guidelines and administers internal and external requisition flow. Accountable for maintaining current job descriptions at the Plant level.
    9. Work closely with Plant Management team to link Human Resources programs, practices, and policies with business strategies and objectives.
    10. Responsible to ensure GPI Culture Development and Performance Management Systems are administered locally in accordance with corporate guidelines
    11.  Develops and maintains affirmative action program; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
    12. Performs all other duties as assigned.

     

    Position Requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree with at least 5 years Human Resources Management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Master’s Degree preferred. 
    • A thorough understanding of Human Resources policies and practices.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
    • Must be computer literate and have demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of training and employee development programs.
    • Prefer PHR or SPHR Certification.
    • Must be adept at analyzing and recommending solutions to a variety of problems and subjects.
    • Must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment and address employee concerns at any time of the day or night.
    • This is a multi-task environment so this individual must be able to prioritize effectively.
