Summer 2019 College Intern - Publications System Administrator? ? in ? GAC Savannah Unique Skills: Review, analyze, and modify technical content publishing systems using encoding, testing, debugging, and installation. Work with technical writers to develop electronic documents for on-line viewing by internal users and external customers. Software and Development: * Knowledge of OIS/ Windows environment and setup. * Preferred XML, SGML, PDF editing experience. * Web background processing of CSS, HTML also preferred. * Experience with UNIX or Linux OS and applications used for electronic delivery to content users. * Technical experience with the primary Technical Publication systems related software is desired. * Background familiarity with web or mobile device development. * PC user level operations, networks, and scanners. * Development experience using PERL, Java, JavaScript, XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations) and XSL-FO (Extensible Stylesheet Language Formatting Objects) is also desired. This is for a Summer Intern Position. The selected student(s) for this position must be available to work at least 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, May through August. Expected timeline for our internship selection period: * This position will be posted until 12/3/2018 * Resumes will be reviewed in December * You should know in January if you will be moving on to the interview stage in the process Principal Duties and Responsibilities: ? Under general supervision, responsible for administration of publications revisions, its contents, and business processes. Support the capability to produce and distribute technical publications in a team oriented work environment. This includes support for various applications in the Technical Publication environment. Responsible for troubleshooting software used to support the production and delivery of products produced by publications. ? 1. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives. 2. Working with team members, provides mid-level troubleshooting for issues relating to producing and delivering technical publications and the Computerized Maintenance Program (CMP) in the Technical Publication systems. 3. Reviews, analyzes, and modifies Technical Publication systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support publications systems. 4. Develops electronic documents for on-line viewing by internal users and external customers. 5. Works with internal/external customers on moderately complex electronic publications requirements, viewing applications and mid-level problem resolution. ? Education and Experience Requirements: ? 1. Currently pursuing a bachelor or master degree in computer science, administration, engineering 1. Applicants must graduate from their current academic program after August 2019 or have plan to continue their education in the Fall (ie. bachelors to masters). 2. May 2019 graduates will not be considered and should apply to full-time positions. 2. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at the time of application required and must be listed on the submitted resume. GPA must remain above a 3.0 through the Spring semester. Transcripts will be checked and we do not average transfer credits from one institution to another. 3. Proficient in MS Suite. 4. Strong communication skills. 5. Must have access to reliable transportation for the duration of the internship.
