    We have an immediate opening for an Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembler at our Exotic Metals Forming Division!

    The Assembler will perform a series of some advanced operations and/or complicated assemblies using a variety of hand tools, power tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to properly assemble sheet metal aircraft components. Inspect completed work for conformance to Production Planning, verbal and written instructions, sketches and specifications.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Using hand and power tools, scribe, grind, punch, deburr, fit, and drill a variety of sheet metal detail parts, sub-assemblies or complete units by adjusting alignment and mating pieces to typical and close tolerances.
    • May perform sizing, riveting, reaming, spotwelding, seamwelding, poke tacking and braze preparation.
    • Detect and provide input for resolution to faulty operations.
    • May prepare and develop schedules on spotwelding, seamwelding, riveting and fastener installation.
    • Perform more complex repairs.
    • Ability to work with details and assemblies that are at the high or low ends of conformance to produce a quality product.
    • May do TIG-tacking for assembly purposes.
    • Check for prescribed dimensions in jigs, fixtures or with calipers, micrometers, height gages and other inspection devices
    • Follow and accurately interpret written instructions and drawings, planning, sketches and best practice worksheets.
    • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
    • Ensure proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
    • Train others in multiple areas and on a variety of skills.
    • Improve processes and tools.
    • Resolve most challenges and complex problems. Proactively engages Engineering and Supervision to resolve recurring and most complex issues.
    • Aids in development of new jobs.
    • May oversee others.
    • Complete Exotic Metals OpCert class and hold OpCert stamp.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    Skills and Experience:

    • Has experience in multiple cells and can move to various work areas easily, having a mastery of all steps of a process.
    • Fully proficient in interpreting manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, specifications, including views, symbols, revision control and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Few limitations but knows what they are and stops and finds appropriate interpretation when necessary.
    • Must be able to use mathematics relevant to functions.
    • Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.
    • Full competency to assess personal work, that of the work center and champions flow and Lean Principles. Working Conditions Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, heat reflective body garments and gloves as required. Physical Requirements The assembler performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

  • Qualifications
    • Demonstrated creativity, passion and interest in design and planning of laboratories within technical facilities.
    • Advanced knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for laboratory design.
    • Advanced knowledge of laboratory programming delivery and how design impacts those systems – including space, operational, and equipment programming, as well as MEP systems and casework.
    • Advanced knowledge of laboratory planning, design, construction documents, construction administration and project construction cost control for lab facilities.
    • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.  
    • Possess strong hand and advanced CAD drafting skills.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop preferred.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006 preferred.
    • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
    • Proficiency in Revit or other BIM platform preferred.
    • Proficiency in NewForma preferred.
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to convey laboratory planning needs to designers and other team members.
    • Ability to work in team environment and supervise others.
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
