The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for managing and implementing a wide range of Human Resources initiatives. This responsibility includes but is not limited to: job postings and recruitment; orientation and onboarding; benefits and leaves administration; training coordination; payroll processing; performance reviews and merit increases; blanket purchase orders and invoice processing; and attendance/disciplinary actions tracking. The HR Generalist promotes employee engagement through various avenues, including: editor of the plant’s monthly newsletter; communications board, postings, and SGTV; employee birthday cards and gift cards; and plant donations. In addition, serves as coordinator of annual flu shot clinics, employee safety shoes/boots, prescription safety glasses, and access/timecard badges. The HR Generalist serves as a member or lead for DEI and LiveWell Team activities, or other special events. This position requires training in basic legal aspects, and works in compliance with Corporate guidelines, HR policies, procedures, and laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
RECRUITMENT/ONBOARDING: Work with Talent Acquisition and/or Temporary Employee Agencies to recruit viable candidates for position vacancies. Confer with Hiring Managers to schedule interviews and provide necessary resources throughout the selection process. Initiate and monitor tasks during pre-hire to facilitate a timely hire and effective orientation. Track all hiring/promotion/separation activity to keep an accurate headcount per budget. Work with Hiring Manager to ensure that new hires receive a successful and positive onboarding experience.
PAYROLL/TIMEKEEPING: Support Managers and Supervisors to answer questions or resolve issues with timecard data entries in UKG; review and ensure an accurate and timely biweekly payroll, including single Point of Entry (SPOE) processing and creation/entry of Employee Change Notice (ECN) data in PeopleConnect (hires, promotions, separations, leaves, etc.). Provide monthly attendance reports and any correlating disciplinary letters.
BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION: Provide benefits orientation to all new hires, and answer questions or seek assistance for employees with benefits-related issues. Coordinate Annual Enrollment process and conduct employee meetings to allow time for questions or more in-depth explanation of benefits. Serve as point of contact for Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), Parental Leave, and FMLA requests.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES: Create and publish/post the monthly plant newsletter, soliciting input from Managers and Supervisors to publicize notable achievements and upcoming events. Utilize various avenues including the Communications Board, SGTV, bulletin boards, and email distributions to ensure effective communications. Issue monthly birthday cards and track award of gifts for taxation purposes. Serve as member or Lead for LiveWell and DEI Teams, as well as special events or projects.
EMPLOYEE SUPPORT: Coordinate annual flu shot clinics; order employee safety shoes/boots; log purchase of prescription safety glasses; issue access/timecard badges; maintain facility One-Call-Now system. Ensure employee record compliance and storage.
