    JOB SUMMARY: 

    The Production Control Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of the manufacturing processes. Directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of purchasing, scheduling, shipping and receiving, customer service and production control, by providing leadership and supervision to subordinates and serves as the link between direct reports and middle/upper management.  Understand and align business operations and the Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives.

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Acts as liaison between sales, service, manufacturing, and plant operations, while also supporting company initiatives in the areas of productivity, quality, on time delivery and cost savings initiatives.

    • Scheduling/ Planning:

      • Actively monitor, maintain, and control work schedule and back-log for all plant processes (including quotes)
      • Oversee the timely arrival of all raw materials and graphics, and schedule production to meet customer delivery requirements
      • Ensure that the production is cost effective, produced on-time and is of good quality
      • Coordinate and manage the work-in-process and finished goods inventories through the SAP system
      • Maintain positive relationships between Customer Service, Production Departments, Sales, Suppliers, and the Customer
      • Complete plant projects while fully coordinating with customer, sales, customer service, manufacturing design, and plant manufacturing groups as required for on time delivery of product
      • Manage Third party vendors for outsourced production, while handling purchasing for tooling, materials, and vendors
      • Run and distribute reports and communication to various levels of leadership
      • Prepares plant capacity and demand plans
      • Maintains adequate working capital resources, meeting defined goals
    • Procurement

      • Responsible for paperboard inventory and purchasing. Work closely with supply chain and mills to support delivery of board to maximize customer on-time delivery and plant run strategies.
      • Manage production materials (e.g. board, corrugated, pallets, bags, tooling, cello, etc.)
      • Manage Req, PO, GR, IR process.
    • Shipping / Receiving:

      • Responsible for providing leadership and supervision of the shipping crew operations: shipping, receiving, and balers.
      • Responsible for safe work environment, including conducting safety meetings and training, observations and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions, and proactively supporting department and facility leadership in the continuous improvement of safety systems.
      • Monitors PM for all dock doors, dock levelers, forklifts, balers, dock lights, trailer jacks and glad hand locks
      • Inventory management: raw materials, WIP & Finish Good in 3 warehouses
      • Schedule and approve all employees work hours
    • Leadership and Development:

      • Provides new business leadership in partnership with the plant manager and production team
      • Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals
      • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed
      • Supervise and motivate a team of workers including Production Control, Shipping and Receiving.
      • Review the performance of team
      • Assist in setting, reviewing, and driving department goals
      • Lead employee certification and re-certification activities including all safety initiatives
      • Continuous Improvement Project Management
      • Identify, develop, and lead department-wide continuous improvement initiatives utilizing both LEAN and Six-Sigma tools, techniques, and methodologies
      • Drive the development, modification, and implementation of plant processes and training materials
    • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork

    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Intermediate proficiency level in the Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel (i.e., pivot tables, formulas, graphs, charts), database programs
    • Experience working with SAP.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
    • 5+ years supervisory/management experience (manufacturing preferred).
    • Logistics, shipping, warehouse experience preferred.
    • Excellent highly developed people and communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and perform more than one task at a time and solve problems quickly

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is M-F assignment; however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
