    Graphic Packaging International looking for highly motivated self-starts with Forklift Operating experience. Graphic Packaging is a cardboard packaging manufacturer specializing in Folding Cartons. GPI has been a fixture in Solon, Ohio for decades so we are not a new company and business is BOOMING offering the security and longevity you need!

    ASSISTANT CUTTING PRESS OPERATOR JOB SUMMARY:  Prepares loads of product for the Cutting Presses. Keeps work area and general facility in clean and orderly condition, and helps the facility maintain high-level of SQF standards.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Air Loads for each of the cutting presses
    • Empties the conveyor lines from the KBA’s
    • Removes scrap sheets from each press, bands up all waste loads, and brings them to the warehouse
    • Moves top sheet loads to Asitrade WIP area
    • Keeps daily time and materials usage reports and records information in SAP and PEAK
    • Performs Preventative Maintenance
    • Monitors the Housekeeping standards in the break room actively managing the Cleanliness of the storage shelves and items stored in the refrigerators discarding abandoned food products.
    • Assist temporary employees with understanding task assignments while Reinforcing SQF standards and Graphic Packaging International's core values.
    • Perform housekeeping duties
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Manager

    Required Skills

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Manufacturing experience required
    • 2+ years Forklift experience preferred
    • Basic computer skills, data entry required
    • Visual Color Discrimination and the ability to match or detect colors and shades of colors required
    • SQF compliance experience preferred

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

    MECHANICAL SKILLS:

    Good mechanical aptitude skills needed

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s license.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

     

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    Employees are required to work 12-hour shifts including weekends.

    Occasional overtime is required.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Prolonged standing for extended periods.

    Awkward and/or repetitive movements.

    Lifting up to 50 lbs.

    Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.

    Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is regularly exposed to dust, fumes, heat, cold, vibration, toxic conditions, and potential work hazards.

    Personal Protective Equipment (hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, hairnet) is required.  Other PPE may be required for specific tasks.
