    We’re currently seeking highly motivated and energetic students to join our team as interns in our Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) group. An internship with AFS allows students to be a part of dynamic and innovative projects, while providing ample mentoring and professional development opportunities. Working alongside leadership, AFS interns have the opportunity to sharpen their skills through hands-on learning. An internship with AFS will provide you with invaluable experience that you could utilize in any role, and it is Arconic’s goal to evaluate its interns for potential entry-level openings. With over 60 locations across the US, there are opportunities to work in a variety of places around the country.

    Arconic’s Summer Internship Program is designed to utilize your education while training you to challenge yourself and make an impact. In addition to professional development and networking opportunities, your internship will be project based, which will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside full-time employees on assignments that will influence the business.

    Projects are assigned based on business needs and priorities at the start of your internship, but past projects have included:

    • Troubleshooting quality issues including scrap and rework
    • Testing fatigue life of materials and products
    • Developing and evaluating new materials and products for certification
    • Designing and optimizing manufacturing processes
    • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance strategies
    • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment failures
    • Conducting observations and time studies
    • Conducting data and workflow analysis
    • Utilizing lean principles to improve processes
    • Updating floorplan and workstation designs.

  • Qualifications
    • 3.0 GPA and above
    • Must be involved in at least 1 extracurricular activity
    • Prior work experience
    • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering with an expected graduation date of August 2019, December 2019, or April/May/June 2020
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
    • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering
