    GAF is hiring! Are you a well-rounded, intelligent, driven individual looking for an exciting opportunity to grow in an innovative organization? GAF’s Information Technology (IT) Rotational Program is a 2 year program designed to develop high-potential talent into future IT leaders.

    With over 25 manufacturing sites, GAF’s IT team continues to grow in size and complexity. This program is designed to accelerate the development of recent graduates to leaders, capable of meeting the growing challenges facing our IT function. In GAF’s program, the candidate will work collaboratively with key leaders across the IT Organization and will have the opportunity to work on major projects and strategic initiatives. As well as handling essential duties such as the evaluation of technology solutions, management of projects, advancing the use of Google Workspace, establishing and monitoring KPIs, analyzing processes and system issues and developing analytical solutions to name just a few.

    Rotations will be determined through business needs, candidate interest, and mentor guidance. The position will be based in our corporate headquarters in Parsippany, NJ. Candidates will have a dedicated manager and mentor to support their development and technical training as they cultivate their leadership and technical skills. Candidates will have the opportunity to establish a network of peers and mentors, have visibility of high-level leadership, and have the opportunity to work on projects and initiatives that drive significant value to GAF.

    These rotational assignments are supplemented by various training courses throughout the two year program taught and led by internal & external resources. Training courses provide overviews of the various functions within GAF and follow a robust and interactive curriculum that helps develop participants on key competencies such as problem-solving/critical thinking skills, technical skills, business knowledge, teamwork, and leadership. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently or as part of a team, be well organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

    The IT Rotational program consists of four (4) rewarding cross-functional rotational assignments within key strategic functions each six (6) months duration. Candidates will select four rotations from the following available IT function assignments:

    • Architecture
    • Data Management & Analytics
    • Infrastructure
    • Products & PMO
    • Service Management
    • Application Development.

    During each rotation, candidates will be assigned various individual initiatives as well as taking on relevant roles within an IT project team. Completion of these rotations will prepare the candidate for a successful start as an IT Analyst / IT Engineer.

    Responsibilities

    Architecture Rotation

    The IT Architecture function identifies and applies innovative technology solutions to address business problems and opportunities. Focusing on the design, development and support of enterprise-wide applications and their architecture and technology, linking the business mission, strategy and processes to IT strategy. As well as the overall design and implementation of technical solutions and mapping business requirements to systems / technical requirements.

    During an Architecture rotation you will work collaboratively with Enterprise and Solution Architecture team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Help in evaluating various innovative technology solutions to solve complex business problems
    • Help in performing hands-on Proof of Concepts (PoC), define success criteria, run the PoC to test the hypotheses, measure PoC outcome against the defined problem statement.
    • Participate in mapping business capabilities to the technology landscape and learn about business capability modelings.

    Data Management & Analytics Rotation

    The Data Management & Analytics function utilizes the latest technologies to enable advanced data analysis and analytics across the enterprise.

    During the Data Management & Analytics rotation you will work collaboratively with Data Management, Data Science and Data Analytics team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Develop analytical solutions utilizing the enterprise Data Lake and advanced data analytics and data visualizations toolsets
    • Establish improved data literacy by supporting enterprise data and analytics events, and the rollout of analytics projects that enable data-driven insights
    • Participate on teams building data science machine learning models and workflows

    Infrastructure Rotation

    The Infrastructure function oversees and maintains the foundation for all of our critical IT systems. This includes the databases and operating systems in our cloud environments, which run some of our core enterprise applications; firewall and routing/switch management on our data networks which is used for access to and by our applications; and management of the telephony system for our call centers and voice services.

    During the Infrastructure rotation you will work collaboratively with Database, Storage, Cloud and Network team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Establish and monitor KPIs on cloud usage, network utilization and system availability
    • Analyze metrics for opportunities around cost optimization, infrastructure enhancement/expansion, and process improvement
    • Develop recommendations for compliance tracking on key infrastructure components related to Security

    Products and PMO Rotation

    The Products and PMO function partners directly with the business functions in defining and aligning on the Technology Investments supporting the overall business objectives. The PMO manages these cross functional initiatives through adoption ensuring value realization.

    During the Products and PMO rotation you will work collaboratively with Delivery Managers and Digital Program Directors to focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Manage cross functional projects
    • Coordinate and perform solution assessments
    • Jointly document current state and future state process and data flows supporting specific initiatives
    • Facilitate project meetings: Sprint review, Steering Committee, and Stakeholder Updates

    Service Management Rotation

    The Service Management function is accountable for IT Service Delivery primarily focused on end user and workplace technologies, IT Service Desk, personal computing, collaboration platforms, and mobile device support. The Service Management function is also accountable for IT Governance including Service Level Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Release Management to ensure that all software and service releases are managed through a tollgate process.

    During the Service Management rotation you will work collaboratively with Service Management team members to focus on various projects and initiatives within the group.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Utilize ServiceNow for reporting, metrics, and analytics
    • Develop an understanding of the GAF ITIL framework
    • Collaborate across IT teams with a focus on Problem Management
    • Work with various associates to advance the use of Google Workspace in the organization
    • Aid in the development of the Automation Center of Excellence to reduce areas of manual and time intensive work

    Application Development Rotation

    The Application Development function is responsible for the delivery and support of business applications . This includes implementation of new technology platforms , as well as continued maturity, and maintenance of the application portfolio.

    During the Application Development rotation you will work collaboratively with Application Development, Business Analysis and Quality Assurance team members to focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Responsible for analysis and documentation of business needs and systems impacts to ensure the successful delivery of various GAF applications
    • Responsible for documenting business requirements, user stories/acceptance criteria, use cases, workflow diagrams etc.
    • Work with the business users to analyze processes and system issues and turn them into actionable system changes that benefit the requesting party(s), improve efficiency in operations and overall performance
    • Collaborate with project team and business partners during project planning, incremental software delivery reviews, and User Acceptance testing to ensure the software has been implemented based on the specifications.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Four-year degree in Information Technology

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous internship or co-op related experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge of IT concepts, practices and procedures
    • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, & analytical skills
    • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and build relationships
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to multi-task & handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities
    • Analytical and statistical knowledge
